Operating System: no, may have to look at Vista if too many DirectX10 games come out that I want
Uses: gaming (shooters, strategy, racing) & some general use; I have a Linux machine that will do downloads and day-to-day stuff like internet, etc.
Overclocking: not immediately but I'm happy to do to increase my bang for the buck!
based on the £500 build from the weekly build thread, I've added up £343 (w/ VAT) the m/b, cpu, ram, video and cooler, and these choices seem great, but I'm not sure how 'gaming' that setup would be, I'm guessing pretty good. I'm not that familiar with Intel's latest stuff - I've been an AMD guy for years.
For reference at the moment I'm on AMD FX-53, Abit Third Eye m/b, 2GB ram and x1600 Pro, so almost anything will be a good jump in performance.
