***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I'm keeping an eye on it without sky-high expectations as I didn't follow the hype too much.

I didn't feel it's something I have to play on release but Fallout in space, count me in.

Don't know when I'll play it, but I will:P

I agree with a lot of the reviews, it’s a real real slow burn. I’m 10 hours in and feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface and still have no idea how half the game works.

anyone landed on the first major city yet?

I don't know if it's my game that's bugged or the game in general, but it appears everywhere outside looks like it's in complete shade even though the sun is bright high up in the sky. Yet when you walk into a building, the outside brightens up like you'd expect it as does inside the shop or building. Its a bit weird,

The lighting and weather during the day in NA seems messed up. I love NA as a location though.

Any else think they are deliberately bringing the graphics of modern games to somewhat of a standstill because gaming now is quite profitable, apart from some sharper textures here and there, possible better facial animations and voice acting, i feel graphics are not much better than the original crysis

And where would I post dozens of screenshots proving how bad the game looks while insisting it isn’t for me?
You seem to have a real issue with screenshots for some reason, let it go :p Those posts were on topics still in relation to performance/visuals at the time.

It's likely more to do with lazy development. Upscaling is the new optimisation. Game doesn't run great? frame gen it, game doesn't look great? upscale it and add some sharpening!

Specifically aimed at games that don't use modern tech in the engine like path or ray tracing of course. Upscalers are amazing things, but they need proper implementation and should not be used as a crutch to offload bad optimisation.

There's no DLAA/DSR/non-AMD upscaler, and even then the FSR implementation isn't done right (Callisto Protocol at least did a good job and that was an AMD game too). Thankfully we have free DLSS in this via mods, so the community has come to the rescue, as well as FOV adjustment. I suspect most of the other fixes will be community driven too so am adding the game to my followed games at Nexus mods and check weekly.

oh ok. Thanks.

Does anyone know where the game saves are on Gamepass? Looked in the normal locations ie C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Starfield and C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Starfield but nothing obvious there

Check Onedrive equivalent if you are on Win10/11. So like Onedrive/Documents/Mygames/Starfield/Saves

Pain in the ass which is why I just did a local install of Win11 with no Onedrive features at all.

There is literally like no immersion to this game. You are locked into a lot of tiny cubes on the planets and in space, all linked together with string/loading screens.

You cannot move your spacecraft on a planet, you can only touchdown and takeoff with cut scenes, and in space you can fly about 2 kilometers in either direction. That's the entirety of the movement in this game, besides walking. This in 2023.

Makes me appreciate Star Citizen more.

Yeah reading reddit doesn't do wonders for my impression of the game. People keep saying the game opens up after the main story but I haven't seen an explanation as to how...

Also re: The day 1 patch, the official release is the 6th, so the day 1 patch won't land until then and it's said to be 15GB I read before. Perhaps all these issues will be fixed after that patch. Weird how Bethesda have not passed comment yet though.

Still deciding whether to buy it. BG3 stung me a little. Pretty silly reply though, I was asking for information that apparently some people have and I thought someone here may have.

I think it's well worth it, can see me getting quite a few hours out of it.

Gamepass ... I want to check out this and Forza before comitting any real cash.
As a peasant have to wait until next Friday though.
