Still deciding whether to buy it. BG3 stung me a little. Pretty silly reply though, I was asking for information that apparently some people have and I thought someone here may have.

Confused, earlier you said "Personally, I'm enjoying the hell out of it, I said I'd be happy with Fallout in space, and that's pretty much what it is, IMO."

So what is the doubt here based on your earlier comment.

You are confusing me with someone else. I don't own it. :P

But yeah, I've seen some people mention you can refund the game as long as its before 6th Sep regardless of how many hours you play.

Get it on Steam you can play up to 2 hours before refunding

It was not a silly reply. If you thought previous Bethesda RPGs were poor then Starfield is not for you. If you enjoyed them and accept Starfield is a larger version of that with more content, then you might just like it.

I still have not got around to playing apart from making my character. Should be able start in about an hour hopefully.

Even though I have already seen and heard many things that have been disappointing, I still think I will have a blast. But yeah, don't think it will be a GOTY which is a damn shame. All that time, money, experience and they use a crappy old engine and can't even get HDR working for release. Sigh.

Still Fallout in space, I will love it :D

Why are you causing a random argument? I haven't said any such things. I played previous games Bethesda games on release and I somewhat enjoyed them (even more so once they got patched and I grabbed mods to fix the numerous other issues). Reading all the criticisms of starfield is putting me off. To get a straight answer it does seem like I have to play it, though I keep discovering negatives e.g I just found out HDR doesn't work on a game that costs £86 and took 7 odd years to develop?

Do you and Noxia have me confused with someone else?

The quests are better than those in Fallout, it just requires patience at times.

Ah yeah beg your pardon, it was a comment you liked. Been playing too long clearly.

Apologies. You asked a question and I answered you should try for yourself. The implication being that you should form you own opinion. You took that as more than was meant.

I think some folks just can't appreciate the fact that you can dislike most of a game (if not all), but still play the game and get some time out of it, and if down the line it gets patched and becomes better, then all the better for it. We've all done this with most games released the past 3 years so it's a mystery why it's often forgotten. Cyberpunk being the last big hitter that had years of hype, years of promises, yet missed the mark on launch in a mega-awkward way. But months/years of patching later and it's one of the best PC gaming experiences anyone will have and that is backed up by the current standing of critical and community reviews on every online platform including Steam reviews.

Will Starfield go the same route? Highly unlikely given the technical nature of its now ancient engine, it won't win any awards that's for sure, but deep in there is a space western RPG with lots of quests and an unravelling story from what I've seen so far which to me is enough to keep at it and see what upcoming patches sort. My only major issue right now that has no fix on the horizon is the washed out look. I've looked back at screenshots and videos of previous Bethesda games and they don't have anywhere near as washed out blacks and stuff as this, and as we have seen, both SDR and HDR are broken on consoles, and simply don't exist on PC. The AI and glitches are trivial, just like with Cyberpunk, just mention it and have a lol and return to being immersed in the story/characters along the way.

That still doesn't mean that just because new issues are found by some of us and then mentioned after each play session that the game isn't for us like some are assuming! I've personally never played Fallout or other Bethesda RPGs but know enough about them. I just want an immersive game and looks and runs good with amazing audio to bolster the immersion. Cyberpunk was that at launch and we all tolerated the bugs (apart from a few people of course), and came out winners as a result with people still talking about the game years after release.

A few more hours in, and yep, this is what I was expecting. I've just gone wandering off doing random exploration and running errands..... dying a few times. Damaged my lungs and got poisoned so I'm wheezing around the place. Don't really know what I'm doing yet. Carrying around loads of useless junk. My ship is half knackered.

Love it.

Only major gripe is the save syncing between PC and Xbox, veeerry slow.

None of the technical limitations bother me. I know what goes into these titles and getting something of this scale out the door is a monumental effort. I'd rather have all the content that's poured into the game than then all the compromises that would have come with seamless travel and flying everywhere.

My game is absolutely booked. No idea what's going on, totally unplayable.

Massive graphical bugs. Reinstalled drivers like 4 times now and still getting same problem each time. The sky box or lighting sources in scenes just don't display properly at all. I'll post some pics in 5 mins to show you what I mean. Just uninstalled the game, reinstalling as we speak. Absolutely fuming with this POS so far.
