***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Just tried ReBar here and havent noticed much difference.

3080 and I7 10700

Most settings on medium with DLSS mod @ 4K (50% scaling) gets me close to 60fps

seems performance is varying a lot between reviewers and comments on reddit etc so how are people with nvidia cards finding this runs?

Have any of you tried RebBar on vs off back to back? Is there any improvement?
Seems unless you are on a 4080 or above, then the performance will be pretty much around 60fps after playing with settings. 4080/4090 seems to be happily skipping along at 100fps+/- regardless of upscaling etc generally.

What did you get after waking up in the ship? On ULTRA with DLSS I get 50ish with 20ms frametime.

Well I am in no rush. I want to explore Kreet at the very least before moving on. Will see what's what after that :)

There’s no rush and there’s living long enough to see everything else :p

It’s also useful to learn some of the mechanics by doing some of the early missions. Also, if you do want to spend a good bit of time exploring do it on planets where you can gain a good bit of XP/credits by fully scanning them.

Not sure how many of you have explored planets yet (worth keeping in mind it’s as valuable doing this as most quests), but finding the need to scan 8 of each fauna/flora to fully scan them is a bit tedious when most planets have 5 of each minimum. I think I prefer barren planets :p. I guess there are traits that speed this up - if I ever manage to move passed the first tier of any of them.

I guess it’s a good thing that it’s all a bit slower, but Bethesda have really slowed down progression vs earlier titles.

7900 (non-X) and 4070....with the paid DLSS3 mod, FG on. 5120x1440, all ultra except a couple notched back to high. Nice and smooth everywhere.

Looks bloody amazing too, people saying it looks like a 5 year old game need to lay off the crack pipe. Bethesda know how to do their environments.

So much more enjoyable than NMS, because wandering off exploring doesn't just lead to a different colour planet...it leads to interesting little discoveries and discovering new quests and location and picking up interesting new gear.

Was ignoring laser weapons at first, but just boarded a derelict space station, and using a shotgun in zero gravity is slightly hilarious, recoil flings you all over the place. Killed some raiders and found a note with directions to a secret outpost which I'm now making my way too....but now I've got distracted by the ship builder and have created an absolutely monstrosity of a ship.

It's just what I wanted... the first game that's delivered on the "I'm a pilot, with a ship, and I go where I want and do what I want" fantasy. Sure seamless travel everywhere would be nice but it doesn't get in the way of the experience.

Completely agree.

Right at the start? I was using native res then and was seeing something like 75-80fps or more iirc!

Is the top download link here not 3.5 then? https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/
Looks like its V3 or am I confused?

No this is nvidia naming cheme being a bit messed up. "DLSS 3.5" is Ray Reconstruction to speed up RT rendering and remove the light reflection latency and image noise that comes with RT.

DLSS dll version 3.5.0 is DLSS 2 but with version number 3.5.0. Both are two different things just sharing the 3.5 numbering scheme.

"DLSS 3" is a superset of all DLSS technologies inc frame generation. DLSS 2 will continue to get updated on its own and as such DLSS dll's will continue to get new version numbers, currently at version 3.5.0.

wow! I'll go give native a go to see what happens, and yeah it is right at the start. Figured that would be the best place for people to compare as we should all reach it easily.

Yeh, but it could be called anything.

It changes numbers everytime it gets updated.

I.e., the next version could be called DLSS version 4, but you'll still be running DLSS 3 frame Gen, or DLSS 2.
Okay, the description says it is DLSS V3, unless it's lying.

The PureDark one gives you frame generation. Don't really mess with these things usually but it makes a big difference and I'm enjoying the smoothness it brings
I'll look into it, I guess he's modding the file or something?

edit: would be awesome if whoever has paid for this puredark file would try the techpower up file and let us know if there is a difference.

No, it's free on the download link

Yeh, the DLL is always free, as are DLSS 2 and 3 on games that have them programmed in.

However, as you know, Starfield doesn't have DLSS natively, and the modder has given us DLSS 2 for free, but is charging a fiver for DLSS 3.
