***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

As usual reality vs nonsense clickbait reviews/idiots on social media/backhanded journo reviews...
1440p Ultra everything cranked, dlss mod, busy part of the city...
Using hardly any vram (even with native 1440p it's still 5.7-6.1gb MAX!)
Nice chilly CPU/GPU temps :)
:)

GPU fan not even turned on (65c by default) sipping power...

I haven't even updated my drivers for my gpu since installing it on the 26th july...

Yeh but, DLSS wasn't thanks to the useless developer! Modders ftw!

Also

You can now download a free DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod for Starfield

Getting playable frame rates by using sub 1080p resolutions isn't a good thing.

Can't decide if I should push the main storyline quests to level up and then build my ship how I want it or just side quest. I think I am leaving towards do the main quests.
Epic ship and bounty hunt it down with pistols and gastronomy buffs :D

I can only assume those seeing shimmering are on 1440p monitors, I’m on 4K and get no shimmering with FSR at 75% scaling.

As I explore more of the different planets I have been experiencing the disparity in some of the texture and lighting quality. They really need to fix that if possible. Sometimes it makes the game look very poor graphically. The thing is if I go out of the way I can make the game look really dated, or I can make it look very good in the more handcrafted parts.

Out of curiosity I spent an evening playing CP 2077 and started a new game as a Corpo or whatever. The first part was in the building where none of the lights worked, that was super annoying not being able to see. I had DLSS quality set and the shimmer on the textured floor was very noticeable. Outside improved a lot but was still not super impressive, even with RT on.

Same with the characters, very stiff and wooden facial animation and no better than Starfield. The biggest problem though was the terrible boring gameplay and it had no likeable characters. I hate games where you are shoehorned in cutscenes as some total ********. It’s why I hated RDR2 and GTA V and the same with CP 2077. They are trying to be “gritty” and “dark” but in the end you are just being forced to role play as a terrible excuse for a human being.

I gave up after a few hours due to total boredom and played some BG3 and Starfield. It was refreshing to get back to a game with good enjoyable quest lines and good story writing.
4K has it too, you just have to know where shimmering will show up in games like this, but once you notice them, you always notice them, whether they're ignored after a moment or not is a user preference :p

Oh sweet. Is that different to the other one released a few days ago that you have to pay for?

This would be most welcome, especially in this heat so that my room doesnt heat up ridiculously.

Would like to put frame gen on and cap to 72fps for a nice smooth and cool time!

Do you think that is an impressive result for a game that looks this bad using a 4070?
Ah my bad @lovelyhead @TNA @CAT-THE-FIFTH @Noxia @Neil79 @MadMossy , sorry wasn't very awake when I checked my settings haha!
Just installed the dlss3.5/frame gen mod...
and this is the results with 1440p ultra 100% resolution scaling...

I did play with 70-90% scaling but wanted to push my luck, and thanks to Frame Gen and DLSS3.5 properly being installed now with the new mod it doesn't seem worth it to me to gain 10-20fps over having 100% scaling?

Pretty happy with that, only uses a tiny bit more wattage draw than before on my gpu compared to the 70% dlss2 scaling mod. I am heavily undervolted though.

Is there any way I can get it to display the mod plugins resolution scaling settings like the previous PureDark mods did? As then I could take another pic for you. But yeah that's with it set to 100% scaling with 1440p ultra settings...

Standard edition now available for activation via AMD rewards. So we can pre-load today for release tomorrow.
Been avoiding the thread for spoilers, sorry if already posted. Still think I should have gotten premium with a 7800X3D :p

Here is a video showing a 4070 running at 4K Ultra settings on Starfield:

Here is a video of a 4070 running at 4K Ultra settings on Red Dead Redemption 2:

Both benchmarked using the same machine with no DLSS or FSR.

Red Dead Redemption 2 manages a near constant 60FPS whilst looking amazing. Starfield drops as low as 24FPS whilst looking crap.

I run at 1440p mate?

All I'm saying is that, now I've set it up with that new Frame Gen/DLSS3.5 mod @Neil79 kindly linked me to, that it runs nice visually/fps wise with 100% scaling set at 1440p ultra?

Is there any way @Neil79 I can press a key to display the scaling option to show you whilst in game like with the previous dlss PureDark mods? If so I'll take another photo.

I was wondering if anyone else had :p

Couldn't really see much difference based on your screenshots compared to what I have seen though.
Ah, yeah the difference may well be subtle, the current HD pack is using 2K textures, will probs need 4K textures version when that's out to see any major differences. Can defo see some improvements on the clutter and computer panels and stuff on the ships for example.
