***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Na, if i have to do a full board and ram swap, i will just wait till meteor lake/Zen 5. I can't be bothered to change everything and be stuck on a redundant socket (if i go intel at least).

Yeah fair enough, forgot 14th gen was the last one on lga1700. Best wait for the next one then if you're gonna take that route... unless you find a bundle for super cheap :p.

First outpost is up and running. A nice wee iron mine. You don't seem to need that many extractors either to quite quickly fill up the small storage units.

Gonna build my base tonight, have yet to find a decent planet though to settle on.

Not sure what im looking for either.

Did you find the mine in a cave? How does that work?

The problem with Starfield for me, is that in Fallout 4 - you have this large world you can explore on foot, there's just so much to do between going to different areas, it's like an expedition - it's dangerous an interesting to go on a long hike somewhere, you'd always run into something unexpected.

With starfield, that large world you can explore has been replaced by spaceships and basically a system where you click on a starmap to gravjump, rather than trek there like you did in Fallout 4. The problem for me, is that the spaceship side of it, is so utterly rubbish that it just makes jumping between planets a huge chore

You hit the nail on the head here.

I've intentionally stayed out of this thread so I could play it a bit, I guess I'm 10 hours in.

I don't mind the spaceship bit being basic, before the game came out I was under no illusions of what that part would be like and was exactly as I had predicted.

But as you say, what you effectively have is Fallout 4 like Locations, with nothing in between.

Half of the fun in Fallout and Skyrim is just wondering around finding stuff.

I dunno......I'm enjoying the game but it's not "grabbing me", we'll see after a bit more play time.

You can build your own settlement?!?!
Not just one, you can build multiple settlements from what I've seen, you do lose them (and your ship) if you do NG+ , so that might limit how much effort you want to put into the base/ships if you plan on doing NG+ but nevertheless they can be built. From what I've seen in videos I'm not yet sure why/if the settlement is needed or whether its more of a fun side thing to do

I think you can get resources from them to sell or use AFAIK? Handy for storage as well.

Yeah its plenty of extra storage, I meant more that I dont know if its a must have thing in the game, sort of how you must have a base in Subnautica or Valheim, or whether everything you can do at the base you can do in your starship, so its more of an optional RP thing. Havent really seen anyone say yet if its a needed or an optional thing.

Meh all the resources and storage I need are as possessions by other people who are ripe for the stealing as far as I'm concerned. Welcome to life mofos!

Jedi: Survivor just got patched to version 7 and on PC it adds DLSS support with frame gen and Reflex. 4 months after release. Given it was an AMD title, looks like it could be a sign that other AMD titles will get an update too if true, indicating once again that there was an FSR exclusivity perhaps regardless of what AMD rep said about nothing holding Bethesda back from adding DLSS, nothing except a pile of cash :p

Funny timing how these amd sponsored games are now all of a sudden getting dlss, gamer nexus called it perfectly:

As said though, really not a big deal thanks to the modding scene and nvidias t-shirt dlss preset sizing (so devs don't have to fine tune it like **** to get the best from it) :)

I love that chart, (hate the youtubers) but that chart is relevant! It's BLATANT amd just want you to buy either their apu'ed consoles or the gpu's or try and lock you out of performance... Who'd of thought they'd start becoming the new scumbags - I'ma amd guy and I didn't see this coming, pretty sad really.

Really in this day and age it should be game supports both technologies (sorry all 3 technologies - including Intel XeSS) or they don't include any. Only way to be fair. And if they don't include any at launch they can always say "coming later in patch update". I think doing one and not the other is ultimately impacting the customer of the game who isn't at fault just for having a GPU from a different vendor. Perhaps I'm just being too logical. lol.

Anyone running with a 3080Ti, how are you getting on?

Ive kept everything on ultra for simplicity sake at 1440, but seem to get around the 60fps I desire! Give or take 10 at times.

I'm on a 3080ti FE running at 4k with graphics preset to ultra settings. It's perfectly smooth, no lag or jerkiness on screen but I'm not running an FPS monitor so can't tell you how many FPS I'm getting. Having said that, it's irrelevant (to me) if the whole experience is lag free and 4k ultra.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt about locking you out of performance. Nvidia is to also blame in gimping cards making it a necessity to have to use DLSS. Otherwise you could say, OK fine, no DLSS but I can still get good performance. Which sadly, isn't the case.

I have zero issues with ANY modern game other than Starfield?
I can literally play 1440p native maxed settings in everything current at above 60?
Starfield I was getting 52-60 so I thought I'd try the mod? Worked out in my favour with 100% scaling.
RE4 Remake for example I can run at max 1440p native with RT no issues either.
This is literally THE ONLY game, and it's the games fault not my hardware... Otherwise TLOU etc etc would run like crap which it doesn't at 1440p native max settings.
