***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Thought my game had bugged out big time, couldnt speak to vladimir on the eye, no docking action came up and after shooting the hell out of it, crashing into it a thousand times and getting VERY stressed, the answer is to push A on the controller if your using one to get the hail/docking prompt to show up lol

Man that drove me mad

So - I won't be playing at unlock as 1am is not doable BUT I want to install some mods in advance... Which ones are deemed essential and could I download them like now?

Also, do they stop achievements working as I will be on the gamepass version.
Defo get one of the DLSS mods, they are easy to install and make the world of difference

In what other area of life, would you hand over money without knowing exactly the quality of what your buying?
I pay for flights and accomodation before I know the reality of what they will be like :D

If I was a Chelsea fan I'd pay to go to a football match before discovering how pants we are on the day lol

Got to level 16 now with 18ish hours played. Did some exploring and a mission on Mars before deciding I wanted to get out there and hit some other solar systems and do some if the missions I have. After doing some bounty ones I ended up on a planet that is:

like read dead redemption in that it's a western. Did not expect that :D

Also killed some pirates in space. Good session overall :D
Yep, been to that planet a few times now and done a few missions there, quite enjoyable lol

I wonder how many preordered on steam to play early and then refunded for the gamepass launch as apparently you can refund any time in early access.
Yeah, the normal 2 hour thing doesnt apply on Steam to "pre orders", so it means you can refund it any time up to the 1am release time. Some people have done like 50+ hours in it since the 1st Sept, done the main story etc, and then refunded it lol

Ahhhh this ship is truly massive, 6 landing gears to get it stable! Really need the bigger reactor to do more, it could do with more engines tbh.

The ship is so big, it barely fits on the landing pad at atlantis! Infact the front landing gear overhangs .

thats great looking that Jay.

Question guys, something im not quite understanding here regarding creating outposts. I've found a great planet with a lot of great resources including legendary resources too. Is it possible to land in an area and place a beacon that is in range of all the resources listed on the planet? If I land on an area that is marked as iron then it seems impossible to get copper and aluminum in the same beacon range. I've been landing in different spots for like an hour now trying to find each resource inside the range of my beacon, but this aint happening.

You need to find the resources with your scanner when you run around ground side. ie. View the planet and resourcemap. Pick a landing spot on the edge that covers multiple resources. Land and go hunting. Might need to land again etc. I believe it's randomly generated. I've not bothered taking the time for that yet.

Yeah I get that, but thats my point. When I zoom in and look closely at what I think is a great area on the edge of copper, alumium and iron, whenever I land all it seems to give me is the main resource Ive landed on regardless of the fact that there should also be the two other resources not to far away. If you want Iron you land on mountains, if you want aluminium you land on swamp, if you want copper you land on wetlands etc. The resource map you see when looking at the planet to find a landing spot, has absolutely no bearing it would seem to what you then see when you land down with your ship.

I believe those landing spots are randomly generated. You might need to explore more, if there is all the resources in range. Depending on which resources you're trying to find you'll need to find where different biomes meet.

I'm on Win11 and just created a text file and renamed it, so not sure what's going on with yours.

Have you tried downloading one from Nexus, I know of at least one mod that is specifically there for that reason.

Had to go to folder options and uncheck a hide known folder extensions for it to change, all sorted now, although the mod still dosnt work for me lol

88% 'Very Positive' straight out of the gate - not bad!

Be interesting to see if it gets review-bombed either way.

I dont think at this point that it will get review bombed in a negative way, looking through the steam forums over the last 24 hours, it seems that a lot of people who might have posted a negative review, opted to refund it at the 11th hour, (rather amusingly despite some of them racking up dozens of hours of playtime), so I guess none of those are now able to make a negative review as they no longer own the game, so should be good to hold the Very Positive

Ah, the cut'n'paste crater. I'm assuming that things like that (I've seen an identical one) are pasted into the landscape and then the procedural generation blends it in. I've also had two different "Abandoned X" sites where the building is different but the perimeter is the same: same boxes, same ramp up to the entrance, same mines at the top. That said, i find it amusing rather than fatal.
