***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I'm using a 1060 6gb
The default settings set to 2560x1440 (monitor native resolution), low with FSR enabled. This looks atrocious.

Drop a resolution level to 1920x1080 and disable FSR and it looks so much better. Some searching suggests that fiddling with the FSR sharpness level might help, but not tried that yet.

The space combat is also tripe :/

This one just loves to keep bugging out, every damn time?!

@Nexus18 the HD texture pack has had some additional updates, now installed and there's defo some extra crispness in most of the areas now.

Why are you tagging him for? You know he only has 10GB? That’s so cruel!

:p:D

Ooh I’ll try that. My 1070 is on its knees with everything on low.

Got them all on now and vram usage gone from 5gb to now about 8gb dedicated  No performance hit, FPS still the same.

Subtle improvement but noticeable TBF.

That star UI mod is probably the biggest game changer so far!

I have amd adaptive sync on and in starfield I have vsync on, I am guessing that the AMD adaptive sync overwrites the in game vsync?
I was seeing 80 to 120fps in a ship last night and then the usual 60 FPS everywhere else.

thought give it a quick blast as its there, but grrr those ruddy safes with those digipicks are doing my swede in:cry:
I was on triton earlier and saw a ship land in the distance so decided i would pay it a visit and see if i could half inch the thing. It was a lovely big Sunsail ship with one colonist more or less inviting me to take in off their hands.

Got to to cockpit which was locked but pickable and, you guessed it, i had no god damned digipicks. Raging

Not even Star Citizen makes true scale planets, they're simply to large.

You can land anywhere you like but it creates the map chunk, not a whole planet. While I agree it makes it FAR more immersive, what's even more immersive is being able to fly to a planet, through the atmosphere and land wherever you like. That's not what this game is though. :)

Elite Dangerous made to scale planets, including the gravity. The whole galaxy in the game is to scale. Mountains in the distance can take actual hours to drive to. So you get back on your ship and fly to them

See what you think- Can only change back.

Haven't tested FPS mind, not chasing big numbers. Happy with near enough anything.

Doesn't work on my end - I'm on a 4K TV and the game only supports windowed mode. Which means I get a quarter of my display used.

Oh! And now as I'm typing, I realised I could change my desktop resolution to 1080p. Let's try that.

I just don't get all the praise for Starfield. The main storyline is just so utterly boring.

I am now 8 hours in and have just aquired my first power. Spoilers ahead.

You would think there would be a huge build up to getting this power. Nope. You speak to the guy in the space station. He tells you to go to such and such a planet. OK, into the start menu, loading screen, loading screen, loading screen. Land on the planet. Open your scanner and head in the direction the scanner glitches. Walk over a pretty featureless planet for 5 minutes until you get to the right building. Walk in a door, float around a bit trying to fly into sparkly things, go into portal. You now have magic powers. So, so boring.

I have to assume that I am now at the part of the game where things start getting good like everyone keeps saying. If this is what starts making the game good you have all lost your minds!

Compare this "quest" to anything in Tears of the Kingdom. I just don't get it.

The writing of the main quest is utterly dire.

This games environments at times can be stunning in terms of the design, images will be bit washed out/slightly contrasty since captured with hdr but just some areas:

That blue icicle or whatever cave is stunning on oled with the hdr fix and lut removal.

Starui and smooth menu too, absolute game changers.

Switch to windowed, change resolution then change back.

Crummy UI.....
