***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

A couple of hours in, and at the 1st city place ... Its ok so far for me. Shooting is about the level I can manage and fun enough to feel your being accurate, but not so hard that you're dying in every engagement ( like I feel with Apex / Battlebit ).

but

Oh my goodness the LUTs are awful and I think really, really detract from the visual appeal of the game ... they should have made the LUTS so that they lose effect on the darker the portion of the image, that way blacks remain black, but you still get the tint for the rest. The dark areas are just far to bright and washed out. I know there is mods, but it shouldn't be this bad in the first place.

and the resolution thing ... w t a f ? How on earth can you release a game like this and not have the option to run the game full-screen at a different resolution from the desktop.

Made a Star Citizen ship tonight, The Hammerhead! Can't quite get the wings right, there's no rotation for the wings. I hope they add more options eventually, seems abit limited still.

Can't beat the real thing really, been going ham on SC for a few days, salvage in asteroid belts and mining moons with my buggy is incredibly engrossing borderline addictive, and without a doubt the coolest space station ever has to be Grim Hex.

Indeed, i just wish they would hurry up and get it finished already and get the performance there so we can all enjoy it finally. Been hesitant in buying the Hammerhead but it will be the ship to own at some point.

Can I skip the ship building crap entirely? I have no interest in doing it - Also can you fly between points or do I have to automate the landing etc making the between literal filler?

I used the original rubber-ducky you get at the start for quite a while. Read through some notes I had picked up and had forgotten about, that put me onto the mission for the Mantis.

It was a massive upgrade, but I was on a separate mission sequence at that point which rewards you with a bigger/better ship. Happy Days.

Won't be ship-building or outpost-building for a while.

Awesome game, so easy to get lost in. Needs a bit of a polish, but I imagine there might be a patch or two in the works.

I've had no bugs so far except that whenever I try to access the ship menu the game crashes.

This is a bit of a slow burner for me, much prefer Mass Effect.

Completely forgot about this! Will do it tonight.

A couple of things I've discovered or would like to see.

Num lock is auto-run by default. Only found this out tonight after thinking 'Surely there must be an auto-run?'
It would be nice to have an indicator on your ammo that it's used with a gun you currently have in your inventory. I have this amazing anti-alien rifle but it uses weird ammo and I always forget to buy some.

It's a pity about the washed out look because the materials are of very high quality for a Bethesda game (at least at the start, I have only played the intro), it blows previous Bethesda games out of the water. However, the washed out look ruins it.

Massive disappointment despite being almost free on gamepass.

Looks no better than Fallout 76 which is 5 years old LOL

Just not engaging at all. Considering the massive budget cannot understand how the play areas are so tiny its literally a few restricted scenes on the planet down to whatever camp is there most of the time

Ship combat is so clanky & boring.

Good job MS own Bethesda so they will absorb any financial losses from this

They should have made something fans actually want like a proper Fallout 5 or Elder Scrolls! (Fallout 4 remastered is supposed to be coming this year though!).

Who do you think is buying the game and releasing the thousands of mods then if it's not something "fans actually want", that's got to be the worst take I've seen and there has been some right clangers.

Nahhhhhh nobody wants this. Especially not the 1 millions concurrent players on launch day. I really hope you don't do any kind of data analysis.

This won't make a loss I don't think. Majority people seem to like it.

I am also disappointed it did not do more when it comes to the space section or some of the graphics etc. But when it manages to grab you and time flies due to enjoyment, those things stop being much of an issue.

Let's not try and paint it like a complete failure because it did not meet your personal expectations ;)

By the way, I figured out the 60fps lock.

Basically the same time I installed Starfield AMD also had a new driver update, so did that.

Assumed Starfield had some kind of FPS lock and I couldn't find it, based on the fact the consoles are locked that seemed logical.

Turns out the new AMD driver decided to reset the max FPS limit back to 60 by itself. Obviously if I had played any other game first I may have realised sooner but as went straight into Starfield assumed it was the game.

Exactly this. We wanted it! Great game, it just could have been better.

Maybe they will listen and Starfield 2 will be the game we always wanted in 10-15 years time
