***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

no idea how we're meant to score this game. It's a buggy game with performance issues and can't really score more than 7/10 but at the same time I'd prefer to play this than 9/10 games like BG3

I would say that you have to score it for you rather than go by what "the scores" are, for you perhaps Starfield is a 9/10 and BG3 is a 7/10, so thats how you would score it, for others Starfield is a 7/10 and BG3 is a 9/10 so thats how they would score it. Or perhaps for you both games are a 9/10 (or both a 7/10), if there is one thing I've learned from my annual personal GOTY thread its that some people felt that their GOTY was something that I would have given a 5/10 to, different strokes and all that :D

I am about 30 hours in now. The game runs bad, it needs some more optimisation for sure. Running a 3080 with dlss 2 with some other mods I get 60fps in most places but Atlantis is a joke it dips between 35 and 45 fps. Res is 1440 at 75% scaling.

That aside I am having a blast with it, so many missions so much to do and explore. The space side seems a bit tacked on, but if you want a proper space experience with factions, station building, ship upgrades I would recommend x4 foundations.

I really should give X4 a go at some point, its one of those game series that I've seen so many people talk about over the years but I've just never given it a go myself

What happens when you run Starfield on a mechanical hard drive
* frequent freezing and stutters

* frequent audio drop out and audio skipping

* frequent missing character dialogue and animations

The game is basically broken on a harddrive. These issues mean that the game would never be able to be released on last Gen consoles

I have always ignored perf issues and eye candy in deciding how I rate a game. If the gameplay is good and I enjoy it, then I score it well. Performance issues can be mitigated or even fixed, boring terrible gameplay can’t.

It’s why CP 2077 gets a 4/10 from me, while something like BG3, Starfield, or even terminator resistance gets a 9/10.

My ships storage is rammed, any off ship alternatives where I can store but still access it?

Finally level 20. Had a breaf visit to Neon. Very nice. Glad I am using DLSS :D

I ended up buying the expensive ship called Shield breaker. Lucky I saved just before doing so because after I did and went to make it my home ship I was told I don't have the skills to fly it

Now I need to upgrade piloting at least 3 times. Done 1 and will slowly work on the rest.

Put more Cargo sections to your ship, problem solved. I hold around 1700 cargo right now with my new ship design.

I reworked my Star citizen Hammerhead once more for a more streamlined ship :D

Don't forget to do The Rangers storyline on Akila (Akila City).

Not only is it a super engaging quest line but you get some blinding rewards and your own Star Eagle ship which is one of the best pre-designed in game.

You also seem to get an increased reputation and appreciation as you walk around.

2200 cargo plus other onboard storage on Star Eagle.

Kill Ron Hope when the time comes by following the chat through to justice. I tried both and this is key to your rep plus no negative consequences

Nice, thanks. Will do it after a few more bounty missions :)

I’m itching to play more of this, but the room my pc is in hasn’t dropped below 26c pretty much all week and slowly rises when my pc is turned on. Only managed 4-5 hours so far. Roll on some cooler days

I see that Steam reviews have now dropped to mostly positive and that meta critic user scores are at 5.6 on the PC.

Just makes that image with all the 10 out of 10's on it look more ridiculous.

Bought this yesterday and enjoying it so far, about 90mins in or so.

3700x and 2070s gets me around mid 40s in the more dense areas and mid 60s in some other areas - I'm really early in the game though and I'm aware there are more system challenging areas elsewhere.

Mainly on medium settings with a couple on low, FSR2 @ 75% with no DLSS mod installed yet.

The one thing that is annoying the hell out of me is constantly having to manage my inventory though due to what feels like a really low carry weight limit - I'm trying to do a vanilla playthrough first (no console cheats) but my patience will be tested, I can feel it

Im half way through it now, thanks for the heads up.

After spending ages fully exploring Mars, I can't help but wonder wtf these people complaining about not being able to explore every square inch of a planet are on about. I prefer the zoned off areas. Took me ages to just explore mars and there's God knows how many more planets.

Less loading screens would have been nice and for all the flaws the game has, I'm really enjoying it.
Wait are you claiming clickbait trolls/shills/journos/youtubers lie?
Mind blown.
Next you'll be telling me they put fake graphs up for the actual performance of this game that people are home don't get with the same hardware... :D
