***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Then stop playing and move onto a different game? Why keep posting over and over about it being so poor? Are you another person who hasn’t played it and just wants to jump on a particular bandwagon?

I'm sorry. I didn't realise that you can only discuss positive things about the game.

This game has had years of hype, not my fault I feel utterly disappointed with it.

As we've all mentioned countless times, you can easily try a game out/get a refund at the click of a button on steam, or use gamepass etc etc... It's not really a big deal to click download on something and come back in a few hours/next morning and it be done and try it out is it over a weekend/day off... I mean they couldn't really make it any easier to try out games these days really could they!

You'll never know though because that's not your opinion and it's too much hardship for you to click a few buttons/play it yourself/click refund within the time slot.

Why even bother 'wasting time' on this thread if you've no interest in the game? The amount of time you've wasted on here over the last week, you could have actually tried the game out and formed your own opinion vs following clickbait on youtube and twitter.

Do you let your parents/friends/people on youtube choose your next partner to date and the location? I mean how far do you go with this if you're literally letting some random clickbait fool on youtube generating nonsense for income and 'clicks' determine what your wallet does...

Ignorance is bliss I guess m9

I am just hate playing it now just to see how bad it actually gets. I'm about 10 hours in and apparently it is supposed to get good. Seriously doubt it.

Looking like Starfield's user rating is about to drop below that of Fallout 76 on Steamdb. Oooft.

I'm getting into it, did a lot of side/bounty missions, got a few good guns and can headshot all but the bosses. The game doesn't do a very good job of explaining things like flying the ship and lock picking.

Because of the leveling you can't just buy your way out of lock picking, the only way to upgrade skills is to do it, that's a problem when you understand how to lock pick :) I think all the pins need to fill all the gaps on all levels, you can't see all the levels? and you can only have 1 pin for each gap? coz I've tried many times and haven't successfully picked a single lock yet :) not even a single outer ring. Technically I've not used any digipicks btw, quick save init.

The space/maps and menu UI is terrible. Too many steps just to get back to the game.

Why can't I open cupboards when I've got my scanner open? etc

You can rotate the locks, selecting them on the right and then spinning them around. It's usually 2 per ring but I've seen it be 3 a couple of times.

That’s some going as Fallout 76 got absolutely slaughtered on release so they must have improved it a fair bit.

Copefield is just an average game for me, pleased I didn’t pay full price for it.
I say Copefield in jest as for me personally there’s a fair bit of cope involved in playing it, from having to use several mods and then ignoring some of the bugs and artificial idiotintelligence lulzyness.

I am quite unsatisfied with the washed out blacks of Starfield on my panny plasma (which has amazing blacks in games that are competently made) so I tested "Natural LUT" mod that replaces the lookup tables. However, it is a mixed bag too. Some scenes look significantly better, others look worse. My search continues. Here are few comparisons. If anyone found ideal way to have great color grading while getting proper blacks in SDR, let me know.

This one is better, it allows you to choose the strength to keep, I'm on the 25% files

It's the usual on nexus just now, the first mods tend to be higher in downloads etc but newer ones are often better

So I have a random question but I'm trying to decorate my home and wondered if there a way to mount stuff to the wall? I have an antique hockey stick in a long case but dunno how if possible.

don't follow game hype, simples.

There's a bunch of us in here enjoying the game that new hardly anything about it other than fallout in space. Anything new in the game is good
Then there's the others who follow all HYPEEEE!!!! and get completely unrealistic expectations on what the game will be like and end up being disappointed
Same thing happened with CP2077

I'd also add don't be one of those weirdos who lets their own enjoyment be determined by user scores on metacritic. The site that only weird fanboys use to **** on other games.

Last of us 2 because of some gender thingy.
Other games because they are exclusives.
Cesspool.

Metacritic and Steam tend to be those things which people bring up only if it backs up their opinion, its a thing that works both ways, if Starfield had hit say 97% on Steam and 9.5 on Metacritic the people who love Starfield would be bringing up the scores and those who dont like Starfield would be saying how those scores are meaningless....and vice versa. Its just one of those things where people use the scores to back up their own opinions on a game , but only if the scores agree with their opinions. Not everyone, but a lot of people use them in that way

Game has issues as a lot of people have mentioned here, I'm liking it more as it goes along, but it's not as if it's fundamentally different game at 20 hours vs 5 hours played time, so if you don't like it at 5 hours, I doubt you'll love it at 20 hours.

If I ignore the ship/space stuff as much as possible, and focus on the main missions/some side stuff around the factions, I'm finding it pretty fun still.

Story is kind of whatever, combat and exploration is more interesting to me, I enjoy delving into the various facilities and rocket boosting around flattening enemies with my shotgun.

Well Bethesda were keen to use their (paid for probably) 10/10 reviews to advertise how good the game is so using metacritic is a nice counterpoint to those ridiculous scores. Not even the die hards in this thread can surely believe Starfield is a 10/10 game.

Very true. Sometimes got to take a step back and ignore it all. The ramblings of some nutter on this forum for or against should have no bearing on ones enjoyment.
To push the point too far in any direction gets into playground territory and I doubt most the posters here are in that age range (I'm certainly not :D )

If anything it's genuinely quite sad a computer game has caused some people so much emotional distress.

You’re on about playground territory but you’re the one calling other users nutters and pretending because they have a difference of opinion that they are emotionally distressed.

It’s quite telling that whenever anything negative is mentioned, you’re back in here with an urge to always respond to it. Are you sure it’s not yourself who’s getting emotionally distressed by other people’s opinions?

The level at which NPCs spawn out of nowhere is actually a lot more tedious and annoying than Cyberpunk's initial launch. People thought Night City's police were bad? Well let me show you Neon City's security and NPC army....

I'm not really sure what Starfield's strength is though. Poor writing. Average combat. Poor space flight. Average graphics. Sub par performance. Good sound I suppose.

One could say it is more than the sum of it's parts? Even though to you it is avarage it somehow keeps you hooked to the game and even more importantly to this thread

Yeah I'm finding the NPC's beyond awful in this compared to cp 2077, literally half of them spaz out and some just randomly disappear or pop in out of nowhere, same for cutscenes too, sometimes I can end up talking to a wall or the camera angle is a shot from above

Talking to a wall is good practice for interacting with people on here though.

I had a interesting bug in the morning. Two workers in neon having a conversation. The guy starts to levitate slowly while the lady talking to him is tracking him as he slowly goes up, with her neck which is going backwards. That looked impressive. Then the guy slowly phased in to the cealing and went through. They continued chatting still
