I have it on Game Pass, but my RX 6600 and 5500 do struggle, so I spent the first half hour changing graphic settings to get something playable, did the first bit where you get the ship, then decided I really want to finish ROTTR first, so went back to that. I'll likely go back to it in a month or so and give it a proper play and it might have had a bit of optimisation by then as well.

I wonder what percentage of players use mods?

I'm not a huge mod fan but it seems like some mods are essential for this game... Unless Bethesda adds DLSS, removes the color filter, makes a proper inventory etc.

I'm not really a modder but a lot of **** poor elements of the game meant I felt somewhat 'forced' in order to enjoy it more.

Wow. That's mad! Maybe I do it once I am done with the side and main quests.

You must be mainly doing quests then as those seem to give **** all xp. I am around 36 or so hours I think and level 26. I got 2 levels super fast yesterday just on bounty missions.

I am not far of 27. Probably one or two bounty missions would do it. So seems we have similar level to play time.

I may have been way behind you the first few days or week, but it shall be you who is left in the dust at this rate sir!

That’s why I bought early access, my life is effectively over once work starts back, at least until the next holiday.

I thought Steam stopped that?
Nope, some of them are still up. There are a few 1-2 hour play time reviews too that are negative. Majority i think are 10+ hours, but going by what i've seen it takes 10+ hours for it to really get going. If you're not a slow paced gamer, who enjoys the smaller things in life, this definitely isn't for them. a lot of people comparing it to a space sim too.. it's a RPG in space, big difference.

I couldn't play it without mods, the DLSS, colour filter and inventory mods can be setup within a few mins and make a huge difference alone

That is exactly the ones I have (Though I did delete the DLSS one because I was getting a few crashes so I'm making do with the built-in FSR, forget which one I was using)

It seems that's all they have done. 200 or so comments talking about performance and shouting at people who don't like the game. I have no idea what it is they like about the game but whatever it is, don't you be saying bad things about it!

But here you are, a few days in and still shouting at people who do like the game .

God damn, what an annoying bug.

I suddenly started to get a small lag everytime I opened and closed my scanner. Looked it up and it turns out having Heller 's cutter in your inventory/as your cutter does it!

That was annoying, but glad it was a simple fix

I hover up all guns etc, dumped them all over my ship, didn't even know about my ships storage. My ship is just a bunch of random rocks and guns.

Done a few side missions and early main missions, sell everything buy all the ammo for all the guns, I think I now have some 130000 credits, enough to buy a ship, if I knew what the hell I was doing.

Honestly I wouldn't buy a ship too early unless you really feel the need, I did the mantis mission and got that ship (pretty good and waaay better than the junker you start with) then moved on to the star eagle which will probably do me until I figure out how to build one.

I did that once and the after doing it found the cargo storage. Loads of stuff everywhere!
