***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

So tonight i landed on Frost on my way to start the pirate line. Heard a random ship land, turned around and saw an odd shape in the distance… Was one of those starborn ships which apparently land on the tip of one wing at an acute angle. Killed the three starborn guys and found the entrance which is a space portal that’s inaccessible… annoying as i thought I’d scored big and had a 900m bunny hop to my actual destination.

Also that destination was to kill a pirate. Had to pay fifteen grand for that when i got to the key

Tell me more
Battlestar Galactica!

I picked up a diary or note whilst ransacking a ship that just landed and one of the notes was a side quest to visit a London Landmark on Earth, so I quickly jumped to Sol to see what's what. This was my first landing on Earth and knew this Landmark had to beShard.

Very impressive that in the year 2300, Shard still stands with much of its glass when everything else is pancaked. Have to say it looks rather good in this sort of setting.

Must repeat that zero-g gunfights are great...

And a shame that you can't hitch a ride on a ship taking off...

Ah i thought it was a gallactia ship in Starfield!

Oh yes also surprised nobody has replaced Vasco with TARS yet. Such sci-fi epicness sorely being missed.

Edit
Actually an entire Interstellar mod with exploration missions in this would suit absolutely perfectly... I'd raise the figure to £45 if that happens.

any chance I could play this one handed, but with 4 extra buttons on my mouse, I don't have the use of my left arm/hand since the stroke
Not sure about the 4 extra buttons, i play on controller so that’s 8 standard buttons plus you would have to map the wasd keys. Perhaps one of those mmo mice with loads of buttons might allow you enough customisation?

This might be worth a look

Alternatively you might be able to use something like a razer tararus or Azeron Cyborg (I don’t know if these can be used right handed but may be worth investigating). The cyborg actually looks like it should be in the game so there’s that too haha.

Hope that helps and you get playing it soon mate :D

I'm only an hour or so in but I'm very close to giving up on this. Performance is fine but it's just so ... boring. I've landed at whatever the first city is called and I can already tell it's a funnel to something which I likely won't get excited about.

Does it get any better once I get past what I assume is still the tutorial?

Sort of. I do like it more than I did when playing the first couple of hours.

It's a weird one for me. I'm not particularly thrilled/I don't think it is all that great, yet I still keep going back to it! For every bit that I think is dull as ditch water, there will be an encounter or quest that I quite enjoy.

I sometimes think I'm more in love with the idea of the game , than the game itself :p .

It just really is a mixed bag.

Still enjoying this. Have put the difficulty up to hard now that I’ve levelled a bit, enjoying the variation in enemy levels that you encounter. Once I fully level health regen it can go up to very hard.

With only a few hours to play in the week I’ve just been doing radiant quests. The more I play the more I think XP and credits are imbalanced. XP is scarce for main quests, but plentiful for radiant quests. On the other hand money is thrown at you too easily. Classic Bethesda limiting vendor cash is the biggest annoyance. Why in a futuristic world with expensive items the vendors don’t have more cash is beyond me. I get it in the ES and fallout, but it doesn’t make sense here. That said, I should have clocked sooner that I should just buy a load of their ammo and then just sell the items I’m carrying.

The quests are definitely mixed, I think identity is the biggest problem. Sometimes it’s Alien, sometimes it’s Mass Effect, sometimes it’s NMS, sometimes it’s built for a kid who dreams of being a space cadet. It’s quite variable.

This is basically it the game itself doesn't do anything out of the ordinary, but the idea of what you can possibly do on moons etc offers a nice treat.

There's no strategy involved in the combat, it's essentially run and gun with no intelligence involved, but because of things like zero G it makes it open up funny ways to go about the run and gun.

Looting has become a bit tedious too I find, tooany lockers to open, too much crap to collect with the hope of one open locker offering epic loot or one dead body dropping a legendary etc.

I'm in it mostly for the exploration and exploitation of the environments on those explores I think.

Yup pretty much agree with all of this.

If you want a quick (cheesy) way of levelling just to go a high level planet with lots of animals and you can farm XP that way.

But yes, vendor credits is an anoyance more than anything as you can simply wait 24/48 hours on the nearest chair you can find to the vendor and their credits refresh, seems like a pointless waste of time. 100% a mod will sort that (if not already) although I am personally not using any mods for the time being until the game settles down a bit as no doubt there will be some significant patches coming over the next few months.

They do throw way too much money at you in this game though, easy to make a million credits and unless you go building lots of fancy ships nothing really to spend it on, I would like to see it much harder to get money, and then say vastly more profitable to sell high end manufactured good that you produce, to give the element of the game some purpose other than "just for the sake of it".

No survival mode is bugging me, I really hope Bethesda officially patch this in, I'll be pretty dissapointed if not seen as this was oficially supported in Fallout 4 and New Vegas (technically the latter not Bethesda), but for me survival mode offers another level of immersion.

Don't get me wrong, 86 hours in (I have a quiet work from home job lol) and I really love the game so far, but it's needing the content from DLC and modders, it will get there though, don't forget if comparing it to Skyrim and Fallout 4, those games are polished versions that have had several DLCs and a vast amount of modding support, Starfield does not.....yet.

There is a mod available that allows you to tweak the vendor cash amounts:

Vendor Cash Mod

Not tried it myself but could be worth a try.

Yes, there are far too many things to pick up, most of which are unnecessary. I wouldn't mind it if they were more generous with the carrying capacity (or reduce the weight of things). Even with max weight lifting and some clothing that gives extra carrying capacity I'm still hitting the limit on almost every quest or exploration I do. There is just so much stuff everywhere.

I think they need to balance this more so that you can go for a few hours, and explore a few places before having to start house keeping and selling.

I leveled up from 30 to 32 doing this plus one mission there in an hour or so. Was fun and I was not going out of my way looking for them. They were in my path going to the mission and on the way back (had to much gear to fast travel back :p).

It was the planet most east of the star map. Said level 75 on it. I was level 30 and made everything melt with my laser cutter. Yep still not using bullets. Lol

No the patch didn't add any of those noted features, it specifically says that they will come in future patches.

Traversal stutter is still obvious in this too I've recently seen it during gunfights which is jarring, running through corridors and rooms firing only to see loading hitches.

And that's on a Sabrent gaming SSD!
