***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Why waste that time farming when you can console command a level?

More time for fun stuff then.
Not for me. I generally don’t pay much attention to what level i am, i only tend to notice it when I’m blocked from doing something- upgrading weapons etc springs to mind. I realised last night i have 3 unspent points but couldn’t decide what to use them for as I haven’t done enough busywork to upgrade the skills i need.

I only do it because I enjoy it. Leveling up in a legit way feels rewarding. Using console commands ruins the game for me personally.
I agree. Not sure why but in Skyrim too I just liked wandering around searching rooms and seeing what I find.
I was never, ever in a rush to complete it, Starfield feels the same - I'm actually restarting completely later so I can redo parts and start over, I was only level 10.

Is it a mile wide and in inch deep - yeah it is to a degree, but I'm making my own fun splashing around. I did the same in No man's sky. I'll end up building several stupid bases no doubt too.

I'd normally agree if the games systems (AI, NPC etc) reward you with intelligence and a difficulty level that provides a challenge and forces you to think strategically. In this game that doesn't happen so you're just aimlessly farming XP or levelling up by shooting enemies that just stand there or glitch about without obeying the rules you are following which doesn't excite me.

Which is why I'm still level 14 but have over 30 hours in just exploring and making my own combat scenarios by taking advantage of stuff like zero G where NPC routines and AI being dumb don't actually matter.

Edit*
Words!

It's an interesting discussion I always feel. Cheating via console cmd vs exploits to level or get items. I don't really see the difference, both are ways that are not intended. It's easy to build outposts and craft low level items for exp. Or sink a few hours into building a small empire to craft higher level items for large amounts of exp. Outposts this way is legit but spamming it out to level seems a bit exploity to me.

Each to their own I suppose. Like I won't be doing base building or surveying. But I enjoy the rest :)

Going to hight level planet and fighting higher difficulty enemies is certainly not the same as just entering a command. Not even close in my book.

Found quite a funny bug but it involves a slight spoiler.

When you get the power that slows down time, if you use the power, and straight away fast travel whilst the power is still active, where you spawn the power will last permanently lol.

What's a high level planet? I'll get to one tonight with my level 14 ass and see what's what :D

I already mentioned it a few posts ago ;)

You won't get there unless you have a ship with a upgraded grav drive. I purchased one of the best if not the best ship in the game so can go anywhere. Set me back around 450K :D

@mrk looks at his balance and notices not enough credits to buy the required ship, uses console.

Then he notices he has not leveled piloting skills in order to pilot the ship, uses console.

Then realises as he has come this far he can just watch the ending of the game on YouTube.

Finally says this game is crap and uninstalls it and impatiently waits for Cyberpunk update :p:cry:

No the patch didn't add any of those noted features, it specifically says that they will come in future patches.

Traversal stutter is still obvious in this too I've recently seen it during gunfights which is jarring, running through corridors and rooms firing only to see loading hitches.

And that's on a Sabrent gaming SSD!

This isn't actually traversal stutter but it's down to the weapons with mods especially ones with elemental effects.

It's not as even DF mentioned it. It's traversal stutter because it only happens when moving through those areas and it doesn't happen a 2nd time going through that same area (at least most times anyway but it still happens) - it's the same experience as dead space basically.

And because the CPU optimisation is the core issue, the problem is more noticeable.

Can't say I have really noticed it tbh, only ever with modded weapons and using the scanner, maybe on some planets but it's not consistent like what dead space was or callisto protocol or hogwarts legacy.

Reason I say this is the start of the game was perfect for smoothness then I started noticing stutter which seemed to time with the picking up weapons that had mods especially a pistol which had gas damage.

Maybe it's the extra cache/3d that is making this a bit less noticeable for me? Not sure. All in all, aside from the above, the game feels incredibly smooth even at 60 fps.

I completely agree. Console use was brought up and I've seen a load of videos appear with exp exploit headers recently. Wondered what others views were.

Pretty sure it's worse on intel because if the documented optimisation issues by the big YouTube channels.

Perhaps one of those mmo mice with loads of buttons might allow you enough customisation?
way ahead of you here,I've got an mmo mouse with a load of buttons(razer naga), but only 4 of them are usable really, there is zero tactical feedback for pressing the others, it's just a mess of buttons, try for one in particular, and end up pressing all the buttons around it, only the four corner buttons are reliable to press easily,
thanks though :)
I can play wowclassic because you can move by holding both mouse buttons, and I only really need x4 attack buttons

I don't game like that :p Hence why my level will just go up naturally. I just can't be arsed with putting energy into a system that is ultimately flawed (combat by the rules etc or "farm" xp and stuff when the systems themselves coded in aren't rewarding in the way of a challenge in terms of AI, as opposed to you losing more health from each enemy gunfire as they aren't actually being more strategic in fighting you, just their damage done is higher which is an imbalance in the system.
