***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

To be honest, I spent an hour XP farming a bit just now, it's cheesy, but for me Archimedes III (level 75) has plenty of animals running around, I have a .50cal rifle and just sneak attack everything you one hit most things.

Pretty much a license to print XP I leved in about 10 minutes and I'm level 52 now.

Mainly because some of things I want to do are locked behind skills, not aiming to unlock any buffs.
Just did the same last night. It was a level 70 planet but still fun. Abundant fauna is the key. Need to have lots of targets.

I found (totes out of the blue) the sneak skill right at the bottom of the physical skill tree and so had to start pumping random skill points into that tree to unlock it. What a waste of skills but it sort of felt like free ones due to the ease I was earning them.

I was starting to wonder what the point to base building was.
Storage doesn't really work. Modding weapons can be mostly done by buying resources from vendors. Modding ships appears to be by cash only.
So base building appears to facilitate...base building. Did I miss something?
The only point in base building is if you enjoy base building. End result is a fun time sink with exp and credits. You can easily spend a few hours and setup multiple bases to farm materials required for high level crafting. This combined with waiting on Venus or other high time (UT not local) planets gets you all the mats you'll need. Then easily rack up insane amounts of exp crafting. You can make things (that you can buy) and you can sell the things you make. The entire system is very basic, I think the hardest thing to get your head around is how and direction of linking storage works.

Laser weapons. Are they of any use in this game? Once I gained a few levels I have never found any laser weapons that match ballistics for either damage or DPS. Currently lvl41 with 3 wasted points in lasers

So almost every Akila vendor chest is accessible via the floor outside, didn’t realise, I swear Bethesda do it on purpose.

Next level I’ll have in fight health regen. That should be useful.

I ended up going all-in on particle turrets - they do equal damage to shields and hull and there's two skill trees (particle weapons and turrets) to boost their damage output. Having a single weapon (currently 3x class C turrets) simplifies power management too.

Also, how does it work for weapons that have both types of damage? I’ve ended up levelling both up since I often switch between the many weapons I carry. Ballistics have always spawned more often though, as has the ammo.

I'm still only a very short time into the game (definitely the game not my rig) as it keeps crashing but my biggest issue (apart from that) is the amount of junk lying around, you have to use the scanner to see what you can arbitrarily pick up and then see if it's actually something useful.

I'm sure I'll get more used to what items look like which will speed this up and it's not like it's much different to something like FO4 but it just feels.. I dunno, more annoying somehow.

Does it get less 'faffy'?

It does get less faffy. It wasn't until around 10 hours into the game that i found i could navigate the world efficiently.

Likewise. I just point and click at the Starfield now. Just takes sometime to discover and get used to the shortcuts. I ignore all junk, it’s irrelevant. I don’t even bother with anything that isn’t rare or above now. It pained me for the first 10-15 hours though.

I think some sort of inter planetary/system communication plot mcguffin would have done wonders in this game.

Fast travelling and having to dock, board etc just for a bloke to tell you to go somewhere else in about two sentences is just tedious. Honestly, just give me a call man.

anyone else having problems on Gamepass? Just trying to play the game but getting a message on the app saying might not be able to see all games on Gamepass now, and also when you click the service status button it shows Cloud Gaming and Store Subscriptions have "major outage". When I start Starfield it says it can't sync my profile. Had a few hours to play here too. https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-live-status

Wow some you guys are way ahead of me. Level 11 and still got to kill 5 ships lol. I keep spending my credits which I have to stop as inventory space is limited at the moment.
