Yeah I much prefer the way Skyrim levelled up. But the AI in Fallout 3 and 4 did not have swords either. I don’t find the AI worse or better than most other games I have played recently. Unless you have a companion with you and they do stupid things.

Same, i find the AI to be the same or even slightly better tbh. They stay in cover a lot and make you move position to flank them. It's quite dynamic especially when its a large room with multiple levels to so you're not just focusing ahead but need to look up and down to avoid fire.

Same here. One of my earliest combats I had done the old, hide behind bullet proof shipping crate and snipe them one at a time. Nope had a few grenades land near me and I was forced to move positions repeatedly. Then also had a few guys flank my position and get me in a crossfire.

I mostly played without AI companions unless the mission forced it. So I suspect a lot of these problems are the poor companion AI.

Yeah thats my experience too, it's quite daunting especially on Very Hard. I really got nailed hard quite a few times so put the difficulty back down to Hard .

There's definitely some pathfinding issues with companion AI and sometimes they'll just wig out and jump/run around for no reason but they're actually not bad in combat - give them a really nice gun and they'll take down enemies for you (they'll also use med kits if they have them too).

I've seen Sarah use her boost pack to pursue an enemy she was fighting and she frequently takes cover to avoid being hit - the companions have come a long way since Lydia :D I've actually had them save my ass on a couple of occasions where I wasn't paying attention and something got the drop on me. It's not perfect, but it *is* fun and interesting.

Oh yeah 100% agree with the pathfinding issues. It's mostly with NPC's during conversations for me, i see them walking from point A to point B but get stuck behind a wall or will glitch out.

Sarah will frequently run into a wall or object and get stuck while you move through a door which loads into another area. She full on sprints into it before getting stuck.

The ‘problem’ on hard/very hard is I get cocky running them all down, then a legendary comes out of nowhere and does the same to me. I’ve found the AI to be better or at least on par with a lot of games I’ve played.

Agreed.

I'm also using an AI mod, makes for an entertaing experience, on very hard.

I cleared out an 'abandoned' lab full of spacers and a robot XL Bully and it cost me all of my healthpacks.

Was worth it though, snagged a couple of cool paperweights, and a digipick.

I went with Sarah to get the Starcrossed achievement. Her voice is a bit annoying, and she ends to make very inappropriate remarks once you've married her. But she has laser training which I don't care about, so she gets all the laser ammo.

I found out you only need to give a companion X1 of any ammo and they use it infinitely.
May as well sell it
