***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Pretty much my thoughts, a smaller more dense game would have been way more fun to play, chuck in a few buggies to explore and the jobs as good un as they say.

I think they decided to sell the game on the 1000 planets pitch, I would have gladly had 50-100 well made planets, even less if they were decently populated and they had some regular DLC coming through.

It's all a bit clunky right now, I hope it gets an update to fix some issues as it has the ingredients to make a great game, they just seem to have missed the mark.

Having said that I am now 60ish hours in so it cant be all that bad.

I spent most of yesterday just setting the game up and modding it to a basic level of acceptability (DLSS, SpecialK for HDR, colour LUTS, ******* pro-noun remover! etc etc).

Did that really bother you that much you needed to mod it? wow!
The rest of the modding i get but that one? lasts about one second and is never seen or mentioned again.

So after 314 pages.... is any good ? Ratings out of 10 please.

I like it, but then, I said a while back if it was Fallout 4 in space, I'd be happy, and that's pretty much what it is.

Not a 10/10 game by any stretch, but as usual, and such a meme now, modders have already made it a better game, with some QOL mods.

I'd give it a 7/10 at the moment, with the potential via patches, mods and further development, to be an 8/10.

Overall I think I'd give it a 7 or 8. It's good fun and enjoyable to run around in. Outpost building is a step backwards from Fallout4 and the ship customisation is cool but they've locked parts behind your level. Not skills or resources. Some of the side quests and random events are epic.

Agreed. That would have been much better. But I also bet it would have been a lot more work. Most of the 1000 planets have a lot of copy paste/procedurally generated stuff.

Space side of it is a let down, even with low expectations going in.

The rest is good but should have been better.

That said as a whole package I am still really enjoying it after 50+ hours and my current rating stands at 8 out of 10.

Did it really bother you that much that it bothered me that much, that you had to highlight in BIIIIG BOY FONT?

And to answer your question, not that I care a jot what you think, yes it 'bothers' me when politics and current day insanities penetrate, infest and degrade entertainment. It's just another straw on the camel's back, and that big old camel is getting pretty ******* tired.

6/10 for me.

It's not terrible, but dialogue and characters are quite boring and it does feel very repetitive. Needed more interesting factions and fun characters, more playable pirate factions would have been nice.

Seems like a missed opportunity.

9/10 for me. Only gripe is the inventory could be a bit more like fallout 76, that's easier when your selling to a vendor and need to see what they have Vs what you have. The old junk definition would be good to so you dump it if it's not used in crafting. Who wants 10 desk fans lol.

7/10 for me, I'm enjoying it but definitely nothing special and has it's issues. I'd go with the whole Fallout in space comparison, but then 7 is all I'd really give that.

I prob have said this a few times already, as maybe it changes each time, but my biggest issue with starfield, is not with starfield itself, but it's shown us just how dated the engine is, and I'm worried now what that means for the next elder scrolls game. I can't see how they could make this engine feel like it isn't just an updated version of the one used on oblivion.

Are we still going to have instances all over the place rather than seemless loading, this terrible face expressions when chatting, the rigid way characters walk, the fact your walk speed is totally different to the NPC walk speed so impossible to walk with them when required, the janky combat.

I really hoped starfield would feel like it's own game, just as games made in unreal engine don't all feel alike, but starfield is showing the engines age terribly, and another 2/3/4 years until elder scrolls will make it look even more dated.

Is anyone recently experiencing issues when playing to game with a controller on PC? Mine acting like it is a keyboard and left analogue stick no longer works in game.
I prefer to use controller when sofa gaming.

6/10 from me. Finding I’m fast travelling everywhere which is just making the game disconnected. In the years since Skyrim you would have thought graphics, tech and in game systems would have moved on. Enjoying the combat. Very dated engine and it’s showing.
