***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I must've spent 3 hours trying to build a landing pad because I go looking for one resource, inadvertently have to save the galaxy on my way to the trade authority, pick the wrong resource up, then vasco has all my stuff etc etc.... there's no way to look at recipes when not at a crafting bench?

AFAIK you need to be in build mode to see what you need.

Well I'm still finding it fun, just enjoy it for what it is, a slightly cheesey space romp. Sure there's niggles but then there is with most games, on balance it's fun for me. My guess is we'll see a lot of the gaps filled in with DLC at some point, sadly this seems to be the case for lots of games these days, they're actually best ignored at release and best played a couple of years later after patches and a couple of DLC add ons flesh stuff out.

Still def worth playing for me especially as it's in effect free on Gamepss.

The more I play the more I feel that development was cut short. Sort of "stop, put everything together the best you can and fix as many bugs as possible. That'll be all folks!". Which is a shame.

To be fair they did have 10 years to put this turd together. Microsoft probably got a bit twitchy with Bethesda to get the game out before Unreal 5 engine games launched

I think the game is what you make it.
It's a huge sandbox and you have some flexibility how you play.
It's also an insane time sink.... I did some random quest stuff, then did some of the main story line... always forget I have abilities, then I decided to set up an outpost or two... then Sarah dumped all her emotional baggage on me..... now doing some more random stuff for a few extra perk points.
Have too many ships, too many resources, too many items..... I need a lie down just thinking about it.

Load screens aren't actually bothering be that much... but I am on a fast PC so they are fairly quick. I did see some youtube footage where the loading took a lot longer which would be annoying.

Overall I'd give it 7/10

I felt more engaged with Cyberpunk due to the narrative.... but Starfield has more random stuff to do and lets you find it rather than just throwing it in your face like Cyberpunk seemed to do.

Definity better than any of the trash a TV license gets you.....

*Loading simulator:p

I'm kind of bored of it now. 27.7 hours of play time and feel like I've experienced all the game has to offer in terms of exploration. Land (load) on a moon/planet, scan for structures in the distance, run to structure, encounter Spacers/Scavengers, kill them, no epic loot to take, load off the moon/planet because you can't dramatically manually take off and exit the atmosphere.

Rinse and repeat.

The only reason I'm playing now it feels like is to see what the next update to the texture mods I'm tracking on nexus have to offer

2023 and planet locked in a game like this is LOL. I could kind of forgive it if the gameplay was more compelling but from all the videos which pop up in my YT recommendations I'm yet to see something which would make me want to play it.

Somehow managed to clock up 60 hours along with heavy sessions of BG3. Still enjoying it, don't think anything else I'm looking forward to playing this year so I'm not rushing.

Edit. Forgot new Mario game and RPG remake.

Dude, there is still time before Cyberpunk. Go do the ranger quests, then do uc vanguard quests and then the ryujin quests. These are all fun imo.

Had a few bugs, most annoying was a saved game one which cost me a few hours of gameplay where I couldn't leave a planet as I just got a grey screen when going to my ship. Searched online - only option was to use a much earlier save.

Got a theory it was due to the ship I had (not modified - but an odd one I'd captured).

Tonight!

I've installed sfse and some new mods Inc frame gen and it's rather excellent so will jump back tonight.

Yea they need to sort this.

They need to make it (maybe a mod?) that allows you to link multiple links channelling into one, rather than having to set them all up in pairs.

The way everything links is complicated, what's more annoying is I run into a bug where my extractors just stopped, and after (literal) days of setting outposts up that was the final straw and gave up on the aspect all together.

TDLR: Outpost building isn't properly implemented yet, so don't bother.

Must admit, i've not had an issue with "loading", sure you can't open some doors and it has to load the next area but it's barely noticable.

It's a second maybe?

Loving the Natural LUD/EXE mod's currently, have been playing a fair bit of the main story and doing all the temples.
I've genuinely had no issues either, get some funky rubberbanding from companions catching up but I wouldn't call that a glitch?

For anyone wanting to see more variety of what is possible, this is definitely a concise look at the game, wether you agree with his 'opinion of the game' this is worth a watch just to broaden your mind on what's possible.

IMHO 'most' reviewers have barely played anything other than the main story, then just right it off straight away as samey/bandwagon hop, as this guy seems to be the first person to actually mention the depth of the side quests/factions/stealth etc etc... And he's only 80 hours in and still discovering stuff!

Also might be worth watching for anyone who's bored and wondering what else is on offer?
Definitely watch it all the way through as he expands on a lot.
