***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Nearly at the end of the main quest. I’ll be sad to see the end of this run through and some of the legendary equipment I now have, but may shoot for a few more until I get bored.

Ok, just shy of 300 hours in and I'm definitely done now :D

Still have the UC Vanguard and Freestar Rangers questlines to do (and NG+) but they didn't feel right for this character so I'm going to leave them for another day - perhaps when the first DLC drops.

In the meantime I've finished levelling a bunch of skills, hooked up my outposts to transport cargo to a central location, finally built a ship from scratch and sorted through all my crafting parts and sold a bunch of surplus parts and ammo.

Think that'll do it for now - here's a pic of my outpost - nothing special but watching cargo ships come and go is pretty darn cool

You don't have to do NG+ - and there's actually some dialogue with your Constellation teammates if you choose not to - they really did cover all bases ;)

A quick question for those that have done NG+, do I need to collect all the powers in the first run through to get them upgraded via NG+? Or are they just upgraded versions automatically second time around even if you’ve not collected them all previously?

The game is totally unplayable at the moment on my RTX3070. Crashes frequently after a minute or so. It was stable when the game was released. Suspect the NVidia drivers, as they updated a few weeks ago. Anybody having same issues?
Also have issue with Sarah throwing herself at me at every whim. Regretting having this needy GF.... As bad as my wife!! :)
i did suffer the same, but guess it was my undervolt, since i changed it, it has been fine

Maybe a hugh save file? I've not checked how big they are. What CPU?

I've only had 2 crash to desktop moments myself, I'm glad it's pretty stable overall.

edit: I found the save files and they're only ~20mb so not sure. Do you have some software in Windows that does something when you press F5? I guess not cause that's refresh.

The last save file is only 7,62 MB, but I have a tad over 200 save files in total, so cleaned out the folder a bit from previous saves (think Skyrim and Fallout 4 had something similar but been ages since I played either). This happens when I am doing a hard save not a quick save (F5), those I don't have a problem with.

The CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900X. Also, everything on my PC is stock settings, so no tinkering with over or undervolt things.

Do you have Radeon Chill enabled? It be lagging out due to that.

Nope, chill is disabled, have Anti-Lag, Boost, Image Sharpening and Enhanced Sync enabled.

Its just so boring...they should have spent the dev resource on Fallout 5, Fallout 3 & 4 remastered instead
So instead of creating new IP and content, Bethesda should remaster two games you've already played and create another sequel to those two games you've already played..? That doesn't exactly sound exciting...

Anyway - you're in luck - according to that big XBox leak, supposedly Fallout 3 is getting a remaster in addition to Oblivion:

I believe yes, but I have been getting all each run so can't say what happens if you don't.

Also if you collect your parallel self power each NG+ run through before you do Barrett's quest for his power, you get it twice each time so it levels quicker.

However, in practice very few powers are super useful and even at lvls 1-3 they are strong enough.

Other game mechanics like player level, weapons lvl & mods (esp post player level 60), skills and armor have a far greater impact.

Now I've got the game running ok and looking how I want with various mods and a LUT ("Normalised LUTS" by the way - awesome) and I've actually started playing the game.....

......I like it. Shoot me. It's just got that vibe that Bethesda games have that no one else does. I could go into a lengthy diatribe about the hows and whys, but I can't be arsed. It's hard to pin down but I like it. There I said it.

I suspect the fast travel and lack of immersion in that respect may start to bug me though.....

Fast travelling is entirely optional - you can grav-jump to a system and then pick your landing spot or you can fast-travel directly there - I usually picked the former and made sure I looked at the local system map for settlements/outposts, anomalies and ships.

If you just fast-travel from The Lodge to say Akila City then yeah - it's going to suck - that's an option though - you don't have to do that (and if you play the whole game like that you're going to miss a *huge* amount of side-content).

Just started NG+, I quite like how it’s done, more than I thought I would. Curious how quickly I can get to NG+2.
It's a slight NG+ spoiler but it's also a random event so you may never see it - I thought this was brilliant :D

Don't read the comments if you want to avoid any more spoilers!!
