***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I'm in two minds whether or not to bother with NG+. I like the idea of advancing as a Starborn, but losing all the weapons, quest progress, ships etc that I've attained, puts me off.
I chose not to - spent a bit of time tying up some loose ends and running quests I hadn't done (Crimson Fleet) - taking a break now until the DLC drops (although I noticed today there's a workaround to one of the quests that bugged on me so I may drop back in to finish that off...)

Same here. Just fancy staying in the universe I am in. But eventually might do it.

NG+ really is worth doing.

Due to game mechanics and scaling you get some seriously good kit open up on universe reset. I've found each reset opens up more and more. Money from quest rewards is much higher too. Big help is the Starborn Guardian ship has full range to reach all sectors from the start.

It takes a few mins using the weapon chest @ outpost function on previous page to get a great array of epic weapons plus enough to sell and make 500k-1m credits in a few selling circuits of Akila, Neon and New Atlantic whilst buying enough resources to make any Outpost you want.

A couple of hours ship hunting for the legendary mkIII ship variants.

Mantis armour is still best in game overall with a good roll of stats plus the ship with a few upgrades.

Since the main quest can be skipped and you just go straight to collecting artifacts, you can complete the quest element of NG+ in a couple of hours.

Powers really aren't worth collecting each NG+ level as too tedious for limited returns vs weapons and skills.

By NG+ I've found you change your play style to enjoy Outpost building and Ship hunting plus ship modding rather than questing.

I'm now going through NG+ cycles, and I'm wanting the quickest route through since I've not got to a place I want to stop the loop yet. It's been tricky going through with whatever weapons I find in the Lodge basement, but if I can remember to make a quick stop at UC Distribution I can usually find a decent enough weapon there and enough ammo to do the run.

I am not a fan of the Starborn ship yet, or the spacesuit, but they're passable. The ship is at least excrement off a shovel speedy if nothing else
.

I've just ended up in a NG+ where Coe's daughter is a starborn and tried to avenge her father's death at the start against me. No sign of constellation yet so will prob rush through this one.

If i cranked down the graphics, could i run Starfield on an i7 2600K, with 980ti? Can run warhammer 3 on this albeit (on hdd) with horrifically slow load times. Planning on upgrading entire system prob in new year, although every year i say that and every year something comes up that drains my bank acc before i can buy anything!
Also, any idea if it would run on an A770 GPU? poss going to use that as an interim before 50- series comes out

It might struggle on 1080p medium. The system in my Sig runs 1080p high with over 60 FPS and all the parts can be had for cheap. Just.an idea.

It will struggle I think. I'm running it quite well at 1080 on just a 5600x and rx7600.

I wouldn't bother with the Intel GPUs for a few years yet. Hardly anything runs properly on them, many things won't run at all.

Why not just play it on Geforce Now? Either Xbox or Steam version available.

Runs at 4k Ultra with no issues on mid tier plan for me.

For the significant cost of a pc upgrade vs GFN it's an easy choice. Plus you can play it on your mobile or ultra portable too.

I'm assuming a
starborn
is something related to completing the game that anyone who hasn't finished it is now aware of?

Yeah - please avoid spoilers folks! Use the spoiler tag!

Shame I can't unread what I've just read :( please could folks bare in mind that not everyone reading this thread will be at the same stage in-game and consider using spoiler tags when disclosing key storyline arcs.

The game's been out weeks and it is openly discussed everywhere including in this thread. You can't tread anywhere on-line now without something far more spoilery about Starfield.

They have talked about these concepts, who the player is and the NG+ universe possibilities etc etc in the official publicity and interviews from early on. The same convo has been had in this thread many times.

NG+ is procedurally generated so my instance is unique to me but it's not story mission detail.

Level 76, just completed the UC Vanguard storyline at the weekend and enjoyed that after getting really bored of grinding destroy ship missions. I think I should have completed these missions ages ago as my level is so high the XP gained barely makes a dent :)

I made a great 'light' C class ship with no cargo space and it feels the same as my main 100 mobility ship so I went back a save and saved the money. But if I don't buy any ships or ship parts anymore what am I supposed to spend my money on? Now got 550K credits. I guess the class B/As have a faster top speed but then I'd have to downgrade the weapons/shields.

I stopped caring too much what my ship looks like on the outside, just one level of flying habs plus landing gear and bits on the bottom :)

What do you have to do to start an NG+ game?
Once you've got all the artifacts, you assemble the arimillary on your ship and then power up the grav drive to warp to the Unity, where you decide whether to go into another universe or not. If you do, you start a NG+ with nothing but a Starborn ship and spacesuit and you can choose to repeat or skip the main quest. If you skip, all artifacts not held by the two Starborn antagonists appear on your quest list and you just travel to grab them.

I have been skipping to keep upgrading powers and trying to see if I can find a universe where anything is notably different (I haven't yet)

I'm on run four, and can get through them in a couple of hours depending on how many temples I want to visit to upgrade powers. I got them all to level III, but now think I might move on once I've got my favourite five or six powered up.

Have you done NG+? Loads of XP available on refresh. You soon zoom up the levels again even if skipping main quests. Everything scales so you get increased xp, increased reward credits, better rewards more vendor credits etc

Once you've started getting limited xp, you either need to do the fabricating items at Outposts method which becomes super tedious, the destroy animal husbandry generators or NG+.

If you haven't done much lvl 70+ solar system moon surface ship hunting it can be very addictive. Loads of YT guides.

The Ecliptic Claymore II/III which is readily available to find and take is still my go to.

What do you have to do to start an NG+ game?

Once you complete the main story it guides you in what to do. You have to proactively not start NG+.

Make sure you get your 15% XP bonus for getting in some 'private time' with your partner - it really adds up ;)

Every so often I get inspired to do something new with my ships and that usually eats around 200k credits - most recently I was trying to build the 'best' <1200 mass hauler I could - ended up being all 'A' class parts and boy does it make space combat ah... 'exciting' - got my ass handed to me a few time in lvl 75 space. Still, it carries nearly 5k cargo and has 'adequate' shield/weapons as well as crafting tables and space for 3 crew and 2 passengers - I'll pootle around in that for a bit until inspiration strikes - then I'll tear it down and build something new :D

Speaking of ship building - does anyone know where I can buy the double-height cockpit (the one with the stairs)? I thought it was Taiyo but I checked out their showroom on Neon and couldn't find it there..?

It's one of the Nova cockpits. IIRC, you can pick it up from the main landing point on Titan, the Saturn Moon.
