***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

They need to get licence agreement to have official ships from other sci fi movies etc. Yes it may detract from it being just Starfield but there are character references to old earth sayings, old earth items so why not have some old earth ships too?

Resistance is futile!

Or just some more NASA stuff would be cool - you can get a NASA variant cockpit from Nova Galactic but I'd love to see some parts that look like they were nicked from the Space Shuttle - heat resistant tiles, boosters, engine clusters and manoeuvring thrusters etc. I'd like to have big decals/custom paint jobs we could apply to ships too - Star Wars Galaxies (God, I'm old) had some great ship decals:

Have you visited constellation yet, are you doing the main mission of collecting artifacts
I've gone back to constellation but spilled the beans on being dude from future past - there was an option not to say so.

Sort of panic chose and went to Akila for the Freestar story. I'll make it up as I go from here :)

That's the right choice, you have to tell them the truth if just collecting artifacts and not replaying the whole main mission.

Oh, for anyone that's still exploring - check out the Neurodyne Botany Laboratory on Beta Marae I (Beta Marae System) - nothing too remarkable but it's a fun/atmospheric location to explore (make sure you check out the roof greenhouse for a skill magazine).

I also found out you can recruit Autumn Macmillan (Freestar Ranger) from The Red Mile and she's quite fun to have around :)

(I also found out there's 27 possible companions including Constellation and I realized I've hardly met any of them!)

Starfield Beta Update 1.8.83 Notes

Update Highlights

Nvidia DLSS Support
This update introduces Nvidia DLSS support for our PC players. Compatible Nvidia graphic cards can now use DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-aliasing (DLAA), Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, and DLSS Frame generation. Please note: While DLSS Frame Generation is active, VSync needs to be toggled OFF to see the benefit. We are working to automatically adjust this setting in a future update.

Let Them Eat!
By popular request, we have added the ability to ingest food and drink items upon finding them in the environment. You can enjoy those Chunks immediately or save them for later. The choice is yours.

would be nice to see an increase credits for selling ships, make it more fun boarding and stealing ships, think most profit i made was like 10k, pretty pitiful considering they resell for x10 mark up  makes its a pretty pointless excrcise

That or a mod where you can 'have a polite word' with the person in ship registration :D

BTW, I tested the Beta and it's fine - some controls for HDR and Brightness/Contrast and DLSS/FG works (it's version 3.5.0) - there's a bug where the DLSS mode you've chosen doesn't display correctly in the settings but so long as the % resolution slider is correct (say, 67% for DLSS Quality) then it's actually working properly in-game.

That said, the game still has banding in the gradients as this is an 8-bit image tone-mapped into HDR - the Luma mod is much more sophisticated than what Bethesda's doing here. Also, whilst DLSS works, I prefer the DLSS mod that integrates it properly into Starfield's settings as you get to chose which mode it's using in addition to a few other features.

If you're running Starfield unmodded though and want DLSS/HDR and some bug-fixes then it's fine - backup your saves though, just in case.

I just tried the Beta and as Aegis says it works, but I got CTDs after about 15 minutes of play. I'd wait if I was others.

Tempted to try the beta but I’m 5 mins away from NG+10 and can’t be bothered to back up my game saves.

I’ll wait a week and hope they push it out as a working patch as I’ve no performance issues currently anyway.

Did consider just going for it but knowing my luck…
