***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Well the thing is Tod is not being straight with some of the answers.

Why dont he come out and say , "hey, even though there is 1000 planets, you wont be able to explore the whole of each of those planets, you will only be able to land on specific areas of those planets and explore that area on foot or using a jetpack"

A lot of people will be dissapointed for sure.

Its not even as explorable as no mans sky!!!

Imagine no mans sky planet tech with bathesda storyline...

If a dev doesn't say it out loud, it usually means it's not in the game.

But procedurally generated is boring man, what's the point. Unless they have had a breakthrough in that tech which generates some basic story etc to go with it.

It depends on ones expectations. If you go in comparing to Star Citizen or what SC is meant to be once completed then you will likely be disappointed.

I think it will be a lot of fun. Fallout/Skyrim in space? Sign me up!! :D
Is boring because gameplay, in general, is boring. Take out the story(es)/lore from Fallout or TES and there isn't much left there after you experience a bit of each part. As core gameplay, I mean. Run around and do too many quests and all gets too easy even with some artificial level scaling, because the world doesn't react organically to your actions. They want survival? Cool, add some realistic elements to it, leave the arcade / artificial limits out. Do you want an economy in it? Cool, actually build an economy within the game world. Same for combat, ship flying and maintenance and so on. As long as each aspect is properly developed, as a game in itself, will be fine.

Of course, if they really wanna do that. Alas, they don't. :)

Why?

Was Fallout 4 pants without vehicle?

Reading through these posts I think your expectations of this game are way off, it'll basically be Fallout set in space with a very basic space flying section.

If you expect anything else you will be disappointed.
Was fallout 4 a space explorer?

No, and neither will this be, my exact point.
I believe Starfield was billed as such but I could be wrong.. Edit

Starfield is the first new universe in over 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery

Yeah that could mean anything....

I think I may have accidently found a spoiler or two when checking the rating of Starfield - https://www.esrb.org/ratings/39293/starfield/

This is an open-world role-playing game in which players assume the role of a miner tasked with finding Artifacts across the galaxy. From first-/third-person perspectives, players interact with various characters, complete quests, and search for supplies while battling enemies (e.g., humans, robots, alien creatures). Players use futuristic guns, lasers, axes, and explosives to kill enemies. Combat is fast-paced, with frequent gunfire, cries of pain, and explosions. Attacks on some enemies can result in blood-splatter effects; several environments depict blood stains on the ground around corpses. The game contains some suggestive material in the dialogue, and after sharing a bed with characters (e.g., “Life is a sexually transmitted disease that's a hundred percent fatal”; “I'm all for getting a little wild, but next time let's try it without the jetpacks”; “Talk about seeing stars, whew… that was amazing.”). A fictional drug (Aurora) is prominent in the game, with a section involving players' characters working in an illicit drug lab; players can also obtain Aurora by stealing or buying it from vendors (consuming Aurora results in a distortion effect on the screen). The words “****” and “********” appear in the game."

That also even says open world lol.

So sorry if me and others thought that this game would allow you to explore a open world planet freely..

Unparalleled freedom for Bethesda which means no more loading screens upon exiting and entering a building.

both not set in a universe....

No ships. no multiple planets lmao
You're missing the point, a game is either "linear" or its "open world" , those are the actual game genre types. AC and RDR2 are open world games, they dont need to be set in the universe to be of the open world genre lol

Here, maybe this actual definition of "open world" helps - "In video games, an open world is a virtual world in which the player can approach objectives freely, as opposed to a world with more linear and structured gameplay"

So for example, something like Alien Isolation, is a linear title, something like Grand Theft Auto is an open world title.

I wouldn't waste your time, you might need to get the picture book out next.

Not a great argument when FO4 was woeful.

Maybe this has already been spoken about in the thread as I've not had chance to read the whole thing but I've just read than Tom has said that modders will have a chance to make a career from this game. That to me sounds like there won't be free mods in Starfield and probably some kind of platform we're you buy mods and Bethesda takes a percentage of the cost.

Maybe I'm just thinking of the worst but has anything more been said about mods?
This is the first I've heard about Bethesda talking a cut. I don’t think enough information has been released to positively say if your statement is right or wrong.
