***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I have to spend my next session hunting titanium. I need 100 odd in quantity. I guess I have to make a brew and do a lot of waiting at vendors as I can put an outpost on extreme environments yet.
Try these two:

I just hit level 100 - gonna get another 5 levels to max out the crew I can have on my ship then I'm (finally!) gonna take a break for a bit :)

Nice one. Just book marked that site. Finally got to finish the mods on my Beowulf rifle.
I have played the nice guy through this NG1 and still have the ryjuin quests to do but I think it is time to go to NG2 and be a bit more trigger happy lol

So, game crashed on me as I landed on Mars, so was going to start it again but then I saw the time I played and thought it was a bit funny, so thought I share for maybe a laugh or two. :p

I mean, why crash just before hitting 200hrs, bloody game ! :p

Nah - I love Fallout and Skyrim too - they're all flawed games (Starfield included) and I enjoy each of them for different reasons :p

I know they are not to be compared but boy was I glad for fast travel after playing SC for a while :D

Normally I like to just fly around in my ship but holy heck did fast travel help when I was setting up my 10+ outposts - without it, I doubt I'd have bothered

My only real issue with the fast travel was that not enough was done to hide the loading - there's plenty of ways Bethesda could've made it feel more seamless but they just didn't - at all. With a fast NVME it's not too annoying but obviously the game would be a lot more immersive without it.

@Aegis fly around where though, you can't go anywhere?
Walk to my ship, board it, walk to the cockpit, sit down, take off, grav-jump to the system I'm headed to, check the system map for anomalies/ships/space-stations I haven't visited, travel to the planet I want to land on, select a landing spot and then land.

Or I could just fast travel - but then I don't get to enjoy the ship I've spent hours of time, and millions of credits making.

I see the fast travel as a convenience feature - sometimes it's really handy, but if you fast travel everywhere you're missing aspects of the game that I've really enjoyed (investing in your ship, finding interesting side-content in space) - I've done a bunch of kiosk missions (mostly space combat) simply because I wanted to earn some cash for a bigger cargo bay or a better weapon and it never felt like a chore because my ship is awesome :D

Oh, I found a small derelict yesterday that made me smile - usually they have a bunch of corpses and some sad clues as to how they all perished - this one however had the journal of someone who'd actually been saved and they left it behind for the express purpose of reminding whoever might find it never to lose hope - love finding stuff like that :)

So after the patch I now have constant bugs when using workbenches or seats or beds , press e and it pauses but nothing happens . Any ideas ?

I haven't seen that - are you on Steam? Can you do a 'Verify integrity of game files'?

Mind showing a picture or three of your ship ?? I'm still using Razorleaf, although it has been slightly modified with more cargo and better weapon/shield/engine etc. But thinking of building my own ship but not quiet sure how to do it so need some inspiration ! :p

I keep adding things/swapping stuff out but the silhouette is largely the same as the pictures I've posted previously - this is the latest version though:

Currently she can hold 12,000 tons of cargo (with the max Payloads skill), has 82 handling and 130 top-speed - has a 40-power reactor and a 30 ly Grav Drive. 4x Particle Turrets and 2x Auto Particle Beams.

It helps to have a goal in mind - I really loved the Cabot bridge (the one with stairs) and wanted to build the most compact ship I could around it whilst still having the best possible cargo/shields/engines/weapons etc. I could've made her longer or wider but that form-factor felt 'right' - I also wanted a ship able to station multiple crew members (6) and carry passengers (10) as well as cargo - I *also* wanted a full suite of crafting benches.

Originally it was around 1200 mass total with 5000-ish cargo space and 6 habs (including the 1x1 at the top) - now it's around 3200 mass with 8 habs and considerably more storage - I'm reaching my limit with the class C engines now though so it's either more storage space or more speed/handling - can't have 'em both.

(BTW, it's worth remodelling the Razorleaf because even if you *completely* rebuild it, it keeps its 'reputation' ;))

So it turns out that when the game says "Using certain console commands may disable achievements" it means pretty much any. In fact, it seems to mean that evening opening the console might do it. Better yet, once disabled they won't be enabled for future games either unless you delete the log. I got stuck on a Freestar Rangers hostage mission 'cos I couldn't find the last spacer. Used the console to TCL and found him standing on the outside of the ship. Now no achievements. The only safe command I've found is "Save" which I use to create identifiable saves (jn this case, just before Unity).

Have a look at this video. About 30 sec in they show how to open the save files as it seems it keeps track of which saves have used console commands and not. So you should be able to go back and reload ?

Edit: And if you do need to use console commands again, you could install this mod to prevent the game from throwing a fit because you had to use TCL or similar.

I've read a lot of guides, and they don't seem very accurate. Let's start with the fact that on my computer at least, I type "@" to open the console, not "~". More importantly, my modded save files are not marked as such: they are actually hidden. If I bring up a list of characters in order to load a save file, it only shows characters who have not been modded. If I then ask to see all saves, it shows all saves, including characters not shown on the "show characters" list. The hidden ones are the ones that won't create new achievements. So I created a new character today, after deleting the console log, and it still won't register new achievements.

Ohh wow. I was not aware of that ! At least you can open your console prompt, I can't. To use the "~" I have to click CTRL+ALT+¨ . Where the "~" seems to be on most keyboards, I have the § sign. Surprised to see that a new character are not giving you any achievements though, that sounds weird. But, it is a Bethesda game so maybe shouldn't be surprised. I have a quest that is bugged which is supposedly fixed in one of the last patches but probably because I picked up the quest before the patch is still bugged. And it been way to long since I picked it up so I just gonna leave it there.
