Where did this idea of inserting fake frames will reduce cpu bottlenecks come from  ?

The real frame rate should remain mostly the same.
While I'm an sure there can be cases where it reduces CPU bottlenecks I can't see this being universally so.

Basically, where the rendering threads are very CPU intensive (maybe doing the kind of work for RT which really will eventually be offloaded to the GPU - in something similar to GPUs before T&L became standard).

While other threads are not.

Anything more complex, I can't see how inserting extra fake frames can help.

While past Bethesda games do have CPU bottlenecks on the render threads, what has been far more noticeable it the CPU bottlenecks on the NPC and Papyrus scripting threads.

If fake frames take away some of the CPU load of the rendering threads, then surely the most that will happen is that the CPU bottlenecking going in the other threads will have their cores potentially boost a bit more with per core boosting. Cannot see that making a huge difference for the more important bottlenecks.

In extreme cases it could even cause NPCs to appear jerky: if an NPC's pathfinding route only runs 1/30 or something, but fake frames have boosted FPS to 60 or 90 or whatever, then the NPC's movemenents may appear worse than before when everything was synced to 30 or whatever.

Reducing CPU bottleneck means rather that you'll get a higher frame rate vs. native by adding extra "free" frames by the GPU. CPU work is about the same.

Pathfinding is no problem, I couldn't see any such issue at around 30fps native while the game with FG ran at 60. Even lower than 30 native is fine, but going too low will be problematic after a while.

Numerous reviews. MS Flight Simulator is a good example.
It doesn't reduce CPU bottleneck per se. The CPU is still bottle-necked but you get a smooth framerate thanks to frame generation.

Fake frames reduce the impact of CPU bottleneck would be the correct way of looking at it

I'm really excited for this game the trailers are fantastic and it seems like from the jack frags videos its basically the expanse and red dead in space :D

Having gotten into Red Dead 2 at 30fps I can’t say I’m as bothered about this cap as I was.
You are a better man than most..

I quit playing RDR2 on the PS4 because of the locked framerate. The slowdown becomes even more noticeable because the frames are so low (at least I think so). I decided to wait for the unanoucned PC version. Shame they made PC gamers wait a whole year for it, but its hugely impressive on PC.

I am hyped for this game. Would the gamepass standard version be good enough or shall I preorder the next version up?

I was looking around at the different versions so stealing this from elsewhere. Standard is fine for myself as I'm not to worried about the five day headstart. Will probably still be playing Baldur's Gate 3 :D

Yeah. As long as as it is not more than a week. 5 days feels like the sweet spot, then I am fine with it. Let them milk people who don't mind I say. Much better than trying to shoehorn in micro transactions and crap like that.
