Is it though? Doesn't seem like it's straightforward to bulk buy these in the 100s like with the consoles recently, so at best it's individual people who aren't interested in the Steam Deck for themselves using their single individual purchase of one to try and make a quick buck. But given there's not really a limit on pre-ordering or anything (because they're taking all the pre-orders before they have finished production) I don't really see how the scalpers are likely to succeed on this one?

Such a shame. I don't think this scalping is going to go away anytime soon. In fact I can see it happening for a long time now.

You cant scalp it because :
1. You can only purchase one per steam account.
2. Your steam account has to have bought an item before June or earlier

Where there is money to be made there will always be scalpers, touts have been doing it for years on concert tickets and the likes.

How about just buying one, selling it for more, while you wait sign up to more steam accounts purchase something and then repeat couple times a month? Nothing to stop that is there?

Ah yes a bot scalper that travels back in time to create a steam account in the past then buy and item in the past before June which the scalper can then use in the future to purchase another Steam Deck. That really would be something!

I pre-ordered but not in any rush. I have gpd stuff already.
Cracks me up the people counting the days till they get it only to play around with it for a day before putting in the cupboard never to be seen until the day they go on holiday.
