Ok so about a few months later: I stil llike my Deck OLED.
I am a bit annoyed by the tiny (512gb) storage as most games these days are rediculously large, even with 1gbps internet it's a pain to delete and download stuff... SD card performance is not great either/slow (I've moved all <5gb and some <10gb games to SD now, copy action takes a while), so I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a 2tb SSD deal and probably bite the bullet and upgrade it to 2tb... 'm used to having over 30TB on my pc of which 5 TB is SSD space...
The battery life in AAA titles is a bit rubbish, I'm getting 2 ish hrs out of Baldurs gate 3, I've limited refresh rate to 50hz, but I need the max brightness for playing outside/in my yard (not to mention that I like the peak HDR brightness in darker env's as well).
I do notice I am poorer with the controls on it than with a Dualsense and on a larger screen, e.g. racing games, GTA, etc, Sometimes a larger screen and better controller pays off.
I finally noticed what the wifi problem is, it favors stronger signal over newer tech/actual throughput, I still this this is a mistake of the software/drivers, it would default to my Wifi 5 AP rather than one of the 2 wifi 6 AP's (all same SSID and pw), disabled the wifi 5 AP and my overall Wifi performance has improved drastically on the deck.

Overall for games I'm quite happy, only the loads and loads of (shader) updates are annoying if you dont have decent wifi or inet, it also doesn't prioritise small updates over larger ones, or steam cloud sync over updates. I guess I'm impatient but still, it should handle limited bandwidth much better imho.
I personally love replaying older games like GTA SA, GTA 4 on it, Flatou Ultimate Carnage, Dead Space, etc...
Roguelikes like Hades, Vamp survivors and Dead Cells are great on it. But even Pharaoh+ cleopatra (old Sierra game) is very nice on it.
I don't like the game, but Elden Ring was pretty nice on the deck.
I've yet to seriously play a long game of Civ 6 on it, but I'll be on a 4hr flight pretty soon, so will try it out then
.
One odd issue with Bioshock (the first one), it responds to user imput skipping the intro, but in the main menu it doesn't respond to any input, no buttons, no touchpads, no touchscreen, nothing, I can only press the steam button and close it, odd, looked forward to replaying that on the Deck and Oled.
