*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Mine has moved from December 2021 to Q1 2022.
as i said above its going to a be a soft launch IMO wouldn't be surprised to see the USA getting all stock and very little everywhere else this year

Hopefully i'm wrong but if people are actually getting their dates extended rather than reduced its not a good sign for us hmmm

I’m an hour ahead where I live thanks for reminding me, so my order time was actually 18h12.

It seems like it’s only the 512GB ones that have been seeing delays.
Yeah. Maybe those sold more than expected and as they have the different glass and nvme they are slightly delayed.

I went with the the 64gb one as my main aim for it is to play old games so I do not need fast storage, nor do I need a lot of it. Plan is to install all the older games on the 256gb SDXC card and have any left of the 64gb internal for slightly newer games.

I have always wanted to have my Final Fantasy and Resident Evil games in a handheld console. Going to grab all the remastered Final Fantasy games on steam and play through those and work my way up to 7, 8 and 9. Only been a few years since I played 10 and it was no way near as fun as the first time as it no longer used the classic jrpg format. I think the first time I played it I was just vowed by the graphics and story at the time.

Mine will only be a Game Pass machine so I could probably have got the smaller storage one too and saved a lot of cash.

I just got this email from valve:

Hello Moley
The launch of Steam Deck will be delayed by two months. We're sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.
Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—you will keep your place in line but dates will shift back accordingly. Reservation date estimates will be updated shortly after this announcement.
Again, we're sorry we won’t be able to make our original ship date. We'll continue working to improve reservation dates based on the new timeline, and will keep you updated as we go.
To view your updated expected order availability and FAQ, please visit the Steam Deck store page.

I think I was Q2 2022 (256gb) already...

Edit: looks others have while I was typing this message.

Bah, just had an email saying the December release has been pushed back to February. Was starting to get a little excited when the email came through but nope, just disappointment instead :(

ditto same email and i'm not surprised by this delay whatsoever i've commented before where i felt december would only be a soft launch and hardly anyone would get them lol its actually worse than that

i wouldn't be surprised either if it goes beyond feb now as someone who was going to getting the steam deck in quarter 2 2022 when will we get them while i'll probably still purchase it its not a done deal for me now.

Only upside is it gives me more time to sort out the money for it, having to shell out for it right before Christmas, wouldn't have been the worst, but it's an easier month for me now. I'm supposedly going to be getting my Analogue Pocket then (fingers crossed) so should have some portable gaming gadget to play with around Christmas anyways.
