*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Does anyone else play OpenTTD on the deck? The default control scheme had the mouse gliding around like it was emulating some awful stick drift, after setting a different map that was better but the music and sounds are all slow and off key. Most google results are saying it just runs fine?

Anyone have experience with thinner Carrying cases for the Deck? (For travel)

I have taken the Deck to Mallorca 2 weeks ago and it was great, but the original carrying case is thick as hell and takes a lot of luggage space.

I have already asked chatGPT and the AI recommended me these:
- Tomtoc Slim Case
- JSAUX Case
- iVoler Deck carrying case
- Spigen Rugged Armor

I'm yet to check these out ( I know Spigen for quality phone cases I swear by and I've seen a lot of Jsaux products for the deck).

Anyone have experience with these? I am going backpacking to Cambodia and Laos for 5 weeks q1 next year, would like to have a case that takes less space in my backpack, but still protects it against rough handing.
Post 3396 in this thread has the case I use. Hardly adds any size to the deck, it still fits in the stock soft case.

BOught this cover, wasn't expecting it to arrive before Christmas, but I'm quite impressed. Intention was to be able to drop the deck into a bag without the faff of the official case. Much easier to pull out, flip the top and play and honestly I think I'll use it a lot more on the go now.

Tolerances are super tight, so it was a small battle to get it on, but it feels super solid, albeit adding some heft. Massive bonus- it still fits inside the official case.

£29 from a popular online retailer (newest version- older version was reported to push the joypads unintentionally).

What do I type in to find this case :) ?

Torn between this one and the tomtop.

NOTE: I hate the original case for being bulky, it's unnecessarily large for air travel imo. But the case must handle being squished by other luggage without damaging the deck.

Looks great and cheaper than the Tomtop one.
However, do you reckon it is protective enough to be squished in a very filled backpack/bag or chucked around with this case? Note that I do have a tempered glass screen protector on my Deck...

As I understand this is a case that usually sits on the Deck permanently rather than just putting it in for transport? Is it still easy enough to take out? I'd rather not have an extra case around the house, just for travel...

Damn just browsed Valve site and there was a 64gig refurbed SD in stock for £250 I managed to get it in my basket but hesitated for 10 mins then decided to buy and clicked continue to payment and won't go through. Still there in my basket now. You snooze you lose I guess. Could have stuck a 1TB ssd in there too sob.

Whoop hooo I managed to get it through payment! Kept refreshing and went through. Kept getting a few somethings gone wrong errors on pp but eventually I got it through. Got receipt. I suppose they could still cancel it but hopefully they will honour it. If I get it I'll slap a 1Gig in there. :D

I had issues buying my OG deck on Steam due to pop-up blockers on my browser. .. may or may not help you at all. Work checking. If it's still in your basket then it hasn't gone through.

It's fine now I managed to complete the order. Just waiting on packaged items now. :)

I couldn't resist thinking I'll be getting a 2Tb drive to replace my 1Tb drive in my current SD so swap them over. Tiny bit of buyers remorse? Now. Ask myself do I really need it? I suppose I could always do it up and sell it on.

They are still saying in stock by the way. Why would they suddenly have a batch of refurbished 64 gig steamdecks?

So ive canceled it after some thought. Decided against it, I requested a refund. Should be ok as it wasnt even packed. With the money back im going to go for the Odin 2 Pro instead.

I ordered the smaller one, and hoping it's the same performance. I'll provide feedback once I've tested it. :)

Power bank has arrived, and it's small (about 2/3 the size of my pixel 8 Pro) and not too heavy at all. My Steam Deck was on the red for battery, around 14%, and it's taken 78% of the power bank to get the SD charge green. It's not got too hot, either.

I've been playing Ori and the Blind Forest on the deck and now when I'm playing on PC I can't change the resolution to 4k? The options are there for me to scroll through but they can't be selected and it's locked at the deck resolution.

Annoying bug.

I was gonna hold out till end of month and get an OLED, however I've cracked; gone for a 64GB refurbished LCD, and ordered a 1TB SDD, JSEAUX dock, heatsink & screen protector for a total of about £90 less than a 512GB OLED alone :)

Excited.
