The *Official* Supreme Commander Thread

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the Aeon Cyclops experimental is WAAAAAY overpowered when compaired to the UEF Fatboy and the Cybran Spiderbot? I find myself playing Aeon simply because of this unit because it does insane damage, taking a spiderbot out in a matter of seconds! It also takes one hell of a beating.

I'd say it makes up for the fact that pretty much all of the Aeon's units aren't multirole. The Sacred Assault Bot is also very vulnerable to air attack. DAMN STRATEGIC BOMBERS!! :D

Its here, but my map is in french!

Where do I go to get myself a english map?

Cheers

I've just finished telephoning THQ themselves about this issue (0870 608 0047) and they took my name, e-mail address and postal address and said they would be sending me out a proper map within the next few days.

Job done, I think. :)

Agreed, i took out a spiderbot in a skirmish with a dozen tech 1 gunships. Although the AI sent in completely unaided with other units. But yeah, Strategic bombers are fantastic because their bombs do 5000 damage per hit iirc, so 13 hits on a spiderbot and its dead.

Fatboy is a beast at long range, its cannons fire so fast that it outdamages 3-4 battleships at long range but is weaker.

I didnt know until earlier when i used 3 UEF Summit battleships to beat three AI's that units get a 25% HP increase when they achieve 100 kills. One of my summits went from 60'000HP to 75'000HP

Interesting find.

One thing that may have just been coincidence, but interesting nonetheless...
Just played the AI showing a friend some stuff, and as I wasn't really defending properly my Commander got killed, and I had no support commanders (winning condition was supremacy) All my units where really unresponsive, taking ages to complete any orders, managed to build a Gateway and got some SCUs, and suddenly all my units because responsive again.

Anyone else experienced this?

Still won the match in the end, on the huge map with 4 main islands in the water, placed an island with huge amounts of artillery on it within range of their island and pounded them with 8 tech3 artillerys and some Nukes :)

all unit gain veterancy in this game, they also get a rate of fire increase aswell i beleive, but it's different for different tiers of units, so tier1 units only need 5 or so kills while tier3 (like a battleship) need about 75kills, and experimentals and commanders need over 100

I spent 4 hours today playing the demo skirmish on hard against the UEF.... there is so much diff between medium and hard difficulty settings

Classic TA style :) I didnt realise that veterancy was in SC :)

I did a skirmish map today against 3 Normal AI's, was a 10km by 10km with several rivers and a pair of island in the middle, cant remember the name. Built a defensive base with tech 2 point defenses and artilleries to hold off the enemy attacks while strengthening my economy. Built a naval factory, took it straight to tech 3, built 5 subs then 3 Battleships. With the ACU and 3 engineers helping i built 3 Summit class battleships (was UEF) inside 25 minutes game time. Leveled everything. I love how you have to turn the ship broad side to get all three cannons to be able to fire on a target. One ship had 181 kills. And i won the level 9 minutes after my summits first opened fire. Nailing a ACU in the heart of the enemy base makes for some flashy destruction.

One thing i liked was that the destructive shockwave from the blast travels accross the land. I had to retreat my subs from the shore as one ACU exploded, the blast followed the subs that just outran the explosion while the engineers i passed popped as they sat there.

I played the demo earlier and it is awesome! Only thing i don't like is the pure amount of time it takes to complete a single map. But the gameplay and graphics are awesome. I love building loads of anti-air and just watching the enemy craft crash to earth. Or the point defense, just place loads and watch them annihalate any water or land based enemy. Awesome and it's only the demo. May have to get the full game.

If you mean the missions, I agree. Maybe I'm just slow but it was taking me a couple of hours each to get through them! Much longer than the C&C (etc) ones tended to be.

Finally decided to build a nuke silo last night in a match against 3 AI's on a 5 by 5 map. AFter using 5 stragetic bombers to take out all three enemy ACU's in 60 seconds. I built a fatboy and a nuke silo and dropped a nuke into the heart of the third base because the commander wasnt in the middle of it like the other two were. I was expecting the nukes to be like the ACU explosions, but OMG they are so much more destructive :D Cant wait to get my dual core processor later today so i can play on bigger maps without the game crying for help. 10km by 10km against 3 AI's with 250 unit caps seems to be the limit of playing the game smoothly with my current CPU
