I currently have an X1800XT clocked with 2gb ram and X2 [email protected]. Would sup com run a lot faster if i got an 8800gts or should i just wait for a while to get either core due or something in about a year?
X1800 should be fine, but then your X2 won't be slowing it down at that speed, clocked same speed as my 4600+ and it runs faster on here than it does on matts conroe E6600 (stock but people say it should poo all over my X2, but doesn't), thing is, the game never looks any different regardless of graphical settings really, it always looks 'good', never astonishing, but always good 
I have never ever played TA or this online, tbh im scared to, as i think i would get slaughtered. I cant beat the AI on hard apart from maybe in a team match i can but usually i cant, i also dont rush or comm bomb, not sure if any of you lot are on the same level. I think its best to play without nukes though. Tech 2 missles are ok but tech 3 nukes are a nightmare

As I've no doubt mentioned somewhere in this thread we do it a lot at uni!
Even when playing with nukes I tend to prefer to build artillery as my offence and just make sure I have defence against nukes.

I'm up for a 2v2... but im m ore than likely not going to be on untill late tonight, there's never any overclockers lot on late at night :|
Hit the top 1000 last night getting better.. managed to beat a top 100 player 
I've improved loads by just watching replays... fantastic feature of this game.. loving it.. the top guys are crazy good with their micro management of stuff...
also, i reccomend going onto the replay vault, search for 'unconquerable' under the name, and look for his 5 player ffa match, theres a comment underneath it about the top players also being able to play friendlies and using t4 stuff... the replay is awesome, and if chris taylor had a vision of how this game was meant to be played... this was it! beware though, machine killer and lasts just over an hour and a half....

I think if your computer can't handle the battle, you can actually desync with the replay.. i had that on another of the ffa's, think it was the 6 player one... i find if you switch from observer to 1 player then it runs smoother, less on the screen etc, but then u miss half the battle :| Try turning the speed down... it is a scarily awesome replay though
my game now crashes out after about 2 mins each time :| single player, multiplayer and replays.. not happy 
Have run spyware (spybot/adaware) and av (mcafee pro 8) and have re-installed gfx drivers using driver clean to fully remove... AND have re-installed the game about 3 times.. gonna have to go for a full windows re-install now :/
