couldnt you take it back to the shop?
Surely they operate something liek valve like where if the key is in use you just take a photo and submit the evidence to them

I've read several stories that GPG can't do anything even if you send photo evidence of your CD key etc...

It doesn't matter anymore as a friend of mine brought me another copy of the game as a present so i've made a GPG account and can play online with him now :) So much more fun when you team up with a friend to take on several AI's

I dont play random people because most are early rushers and only care about their win/loss ratio etc.. At least with friends that i know we can mess about and do fun co-ordinated strikes with a nuke followed by a fully loaded CZAR from my friend and a GC rizing from the sea from my base :)

I may be missing something here, but why does it take my Colossus ages to start firing its main laser thingy. I had 2 standing doing nothing whilst an enemy razed my firebase to ground and then proceeded to destroy 1 Colossus and damage down to 1/4 health of the other. I did instruct them both to attack the Colossus, but the big lumbering piles of metal just stood there being dopey.

Also mass movement of large numbers of units seem to cause problems. Unless the land is wide flat and easy to navigate then it seems to take forever. I once timed how long it took to move 200 siege bots approx. ~10k on a 20x20 map - the result was 45 minutes of play time! I gave up trying to keep them in formation.

I just played a skirmish vs tech ai all was going fantastic
i had 8 experimental gunships 6 battlecruisers 10 spiders
owned his incoming units and you know what the ****** did?
Crashed a damn flying saucer thing into my commander and won.
The AI in this game is superb !

Sounds like your CPU can't keep up.

I'd just try to play the campaigns, slowly learn tech by tech :).

Also means no rush to tech 3 stuff but messing around with tech 1 and tech 2 stuff, wich imo is much more fun :).

LOL

GENIUS.

A shame more games are not programmed with the same attention as this.

erm, slight problem LOL

I've just gone to patch to 3260, and its thrown a wobbly because I changed the value in the Resource Rich mod (gamedata/mods.scd) and didnt make a backup....whoops!

Now I cant patch it, so I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to e-mail me their mods.scd file pwease :D (patch ver 3255 i think it was last)

Thanks all

Lee

HUGE BUMP! :)

Been playing more and more of this game and i'm starting to get the hang of it but i've read most of this thread and people talk about having 20 Fatboys, 30 T3 units and i'm just  !

I'm using T3 engineers a lot, do SCU units or whatever they are called really make a huge difference? I also don't upgrade my Commander, takes too long really and the energy is normally used for other things.

Currently playing against 3 AI, all on our own islands - 4 corners i think just to get used to it.

My unit is stupidly low, mainly go for Tech. and then 1 Experimental and i'm sorted..as it takes me ages to get anywhere...where am i going wrong? Am i simply not producing enough mass/energy?

The AI always goes for quantity rather than quality. I find they are too easy to beat with defense in choke points. I don't use SCU units too much. They are great for guarding a shield gen tho. Those things can repair so fast it takes an insane amount to destroy the shield gen.

I find games against the AI are normally over when I get an experimental unit. Otherwise I lose before then.

Before GTA4 came out i was playing it a good 3 hours a days for a few months.
The best way to improve you skill is to simply play online. Play a good selection of games, often with small maps its all about a T1 rush, but getting on the big maps and having a big teams 4v4 it often about a combination and who can tech up first and support any rush tactics.
Try some 4v4 games they can be really fun if you get an evenly matched team. Oh and i hope we talking about forged alliance now as that games seems so much more improved over the original.

Have been trying one of the modded maps which spawns in wave after wave of increasing tech level units - there are 4 of us defending in the middle - we managed to stay alive long enough to all have fatboys (3 each nearly at one point) and other units - playing as one race each but sharing engineers.

We managed to destroy 7 of the 8 gates that the units jump in through but the last one by the time we got to it was churning out combinations of all the experimentals so was nigh on impossible to defeat - we lost big time - all cos of one last warp gate !

These maps sound pretty cool... got a link per-chance?
