Sorian 1.6.2 is out now! I thought the mod was insane before but now it's something else.

OK, just tried this and it's rubbish :confused:

First game I played the basic Sorian AI. I quickly built 1 bomber to harass his initial base setup. I was impressed because he built a mobile AA in response - something the standard AI never does. However, the mobile AA went driving off somewhere and left the base unprotected. My one bomber then totally wiped out his base while the ACU just sat there watching and doing absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing. My bomber and a few T1 tanks then calmly went up to the ACU and blew him away. He just stood there taking pot-shots.

2nd game I tried the Sorian Adaptive. Within a few mins his ACU walked up (totally on his own) to my base and started blasting away :confused: My ACU started to whoop him so he started running back to his own base - mine followed and they duked it out in the middle of the map, which resulted in their destruction.....mine due to his explosion.

Like, what the hell is with this AI :D

Did you try the cheating (Alx) AI's? If you have the cheat/build set to about 2 then they're pretty hard to beat some times.
 
What map was that Curio? Doesn't sound right, the standard and jaws Sorian AI completely blew me to pieces within 25 minutes - the jaws version had *7* destroyers shelling my base, and aircraft, not to mention dozens of defensive groups of turrets and shields.
 
AI are predictable and even though the Sorian AI is very good, it lacks in its ability to react differently to your tried and tested strategies.

In other words it doesn't learn past what you throw at it during a given battle which allows a human player to store patterns and exploit them.
 
I'd suggest people looking for a real RTS after being disappointed with RA3 to look to Sup Com.

Anyone know when the next Chris Taylor game is coming out?
 
The sorian mod has advanced a lot since my last post, you only have to look at the release note history to see the amount of changes made.

The amount of units the AI sends at you is horrific now, and he tries to use them to good effect also.

You forgot to mention the extra addon which allows for variable cheating ai, so you can change the Aix to something other than just 2x buildspeed and resources, can crank it up to levels to make it challenging for even multiple people, which are still less than default speeds :p.
 
I installed this recently and it was very good - I like the specific ones you can choose like Water or Air based AI as the default one is pretty poor on the seas at the best of times!

Will have to get some mates together for a good long game :D
 
I just bumped up Sorian to 4xbuild 4xcheat and got totally owned! By the time I built a T3 engineer I had two Seraphim bombers over my base and they killed it :( Those options are incredible!
 
Is there any way to disable the bloody Experimental units in a custom game vs the ai ? I absolutely hate it that the ai sits doing nothing really and then sends experimental assault bots @ me....

So is there a way to disable Experimentals?
And perhaps, is there a way to limit the game to tech 2, that you can't get to t3 ?

in forged alliance there is a 'no experimental' option in 'unit options' at the bottom of the skirmish screen IIRC
