The *Official* Supreme Commander Thread

I'm playing Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, is there a way to make it skip the Nvidia adverts and intro movie and just make the game load directly into the game?
 
Okay had a look, so if you go into the movies folder and remove
nvidialogo.std
nvidia_logo.sfd
FMV_SCX_Intro.sfd
gpglogo.sfd

Then that removes the starting vids

If this is just SC and not FA then they might have different titles, but if you install VLC and go to the movies folder in
C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\movies
Then drag a move into the folder you can see it.

Just move the movie to a different folder to prevent it loading.

Seriously though, is this game still active online?

I loved TA back in the day, dont know why I have not got around to purchasing this sooner.

Is this any better than TA at its core? Obviously visuals are improved, but what about the total package?

I am in no way interested in Supreme Commander 2. My understanding is they made a game which is diluted compared to its predecessors, is that a fair summary?

Can you activate serial keys on Impulse?
 
Have ordered a copy for a mate - he only ever had vanilla sup comm so it'll be ace to be able to play him using FA!

Can't believe it's this cheap - I can still remember paying like £18 for FA retail not that many years ago :o
 
Still a great game and most of the pro's still play, but since the last patch most now play SupCom2

Not a single game beats FA for Epic battles yet
 
What makes FA so much better than Vanilla? Im a big RTS fan, but never liked sup com, mainly because of its ugly ass interface.

That was fixed by mods and in FA. You can hide the interface completely if desired. There's also less turtling because mass fabricators have been made less efficient.
 
still one of my fave games of all time,

that feeling of "MWHAHAHAHAHAHA" as you walk in to someone base with 4-5 sacred bots and level the place lol
 
Thread has inspired me to buy Sup Com Gold.

I only had original Sup Com before. Loved it to death but couldn't really run it properly. Bought Sup Com 2 *spits* when I upgraded my PC but was obviously very disappointed. Will be good to get into Sup Com with FA on an i7 where hopefully the game isn't gonna slow to a crawl.

Had some epic, epic battles on Sup Com. Can't see any game coming close again with the way things are moving. (Towards the mass market, ie - morons)

it does scale, but beyond 4 i doubt you'd see much difference. Already need a 3rd party tool to optimise 2 or more simultaneous threads' worth of processing power.

Just noticed you have an Athlon X2, give the core maximiser a try: link.
