***The Official Telltale Games Thread***

Only played the first walking dead which I really enjoyed.

Always thought the way they instantly latched onto every single trending franchise a little worrying though. A shame.

That was the annoying thing as they spread themselves so thin, so rapidly. I hear they had a Stranger Things title in the works amongst 3 others. For such a small outfit that is a LOT of work.

Update (9:21 p.m.): Both Game Informer and USGamer, citing unnamed sources, say that The Walking Dead: The Final Season will not be completed. Their reports say the skeleton crew remaining is working on the Minecraft: Story Mode adaptation for Netflix, due later this fall.

Please tell me this isn't true :(. I love this walking dead game and wanted to see it through to the end.

They were churning out about 3 games a year on average so it was a ticking time bomb really considering their core gameplay doesn't exactly have the broadest appeal out there. Should have stuck with two or three series and put proper time and effort into them (and releasing them as full games instead of the episode format), all the while needing 50 employees instead of 300. Sad I won't get to play Wolf Among Us season 2 though :(.

Nahh, they're done, even the voice actor that plays Clemantine said its the end and the walking dead wont be finished and the wolf among us season 2 is cancelled. A lot of the devs are finding new jobs with other studios that have reached out on social media etc, so at least there are some talented devs and storytellers that will have their skills put to use, instead of churning out countless mediocre games. They should have just concentrated on their most popular games, instead of making so many.

Kind of glad they died to be honest. The walking dead was good the rest felt rushed and lacked polish. They latched on to everything to fast for greed and not making good games. The talent will be picked up and bad business decisions will put to gutter like they should be.

I'm reading reports that it's confirmed (from anonymous sources) that there will be no conclusion to the final season. If true, that's both heartbreaking and infuriating at the same time. 6 years of character development and emotional investment down the drain. I wonder if there's anything that can be done in this age of crowdfunding to salvage the final episodes at least?

I always did wonder why they wasted their time on garbage like GoT, Minecraft and Batman. Big, popular IPs they may be, but it's just not what Telltale is famous for. They should have knuckled down with TWD and The Wolf Among Us. Terrible management from bigwigs who are desperate to claw at the big popular names for the sake of alienating their core audience. When you have a franchise like Game of Thrones, which is known for their violence and big epic battles, or Batman who already has all the open world (-ish) Arkham games, why would fans of either of those be interested in a point and click interactive movie?

I can understand them targeting GoT and Batman to a certain extent, both being based on books/comics (Thrones is more about the politics and backstabbing anyway, rather than the magic and war which is more of a backdrop imo). Minecraft and Borderlands were the ones that had me scratching my head - hardly IPs that spring to mind when you think of epic story-telling.

To be fair the Borderlands Telltale game was actually quite good, but even still, i'd have much rather they concentrated on TWD and TWAU. I can't believe it has almost been 5 years since the first wolf among us was released. A game that got 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews and was a favorite of streamers and youtubers. If they hadn't been working on so much rubbish they could have had a second game out by now.

It seems like a lot of the devs agreed with the players and had these very same reservations about the way the company was running things. I guess it's too late now.

I enjoyed Borderlands, I still haven't got around to playing the Batman, Minecraft or Guardians of the Galaxy games yet, I started TWD New Frontier yesterday and just finished episode 1, I also grabbed TWD final season last night but if it's not to be finished I'll refund it, I've got two weeks, or should I say they've got two weeks to change their minds. It's a bit odd that nothing's going to be finished seeing as they've kept 25 staff on.

Apparently they kept a small skeleton crew on to finish the Minecraft game. Weird that they are finishing that instead of tying up their most popular game. I'm still hoping it might get finished, but if even the voice actor that plays Clementine thinks this is the end of TWD, then theres a very good chance it is sadly :(.

How does the closure affect games bought directly from Telltale rather than Steam, in terms of still being able to download and play one the company fully winds up? I have both of the first and second season of TWD and you had to download the installer from their site. Will this continue to work? I can't remember if it was the full game or whether it downloaded episodes when needed, but even if it was a full installer what would happen if you lost that and had to re-download, if you felt the urge to play them again? Free Steam keys would be one answer I guess.

It got a 2.7 gb upload on Steam today so I'm presuming that's episode 2, As you say it is odd they would prioritize Minecraft over The Walking Dead, That said, Minecraft may be a better seller for not having a mature rating like TWD does. Minecraft is a very popular franchise that can sell to anyone regardless of age. I've got my fingers crossed for TWD & this article gives us hope. :)
