The **Official** Test Drive Unlimited for PC thread

Anyone wanna start a 'when does patch 2 come out?' thread on the TDU forums and see how quickly they ban it? TBH its a legimate question since this still hasnt address fundamental issues - how the online play - still luck to con to people?

I've been holding out and holding out to buy this game untill the patch was released, i figured they'd atleast fix the major things people are having issues with, but apparently they didnt even bother with half of the issues.

This was the one game i was actually excited about this year (after playing the open beta), but Atari have raped it and left it for dead.

Atari = The New EA.

I'm finished with TDU too and may even sell on, Dirt grabs my attention more than TDU does now, hopefully Atari will learn a BIG lesson from TDU and make TDU2 what TDU was supposed to be.

Bit of a disappointment really. Can't find anything that's changed other than the new cars. Sound is now slightly stuttery where it wasn't before. Network problems are still there. Trying to play multiplayer races over a lan is impossible. We managed to get it to work once and then every other time it was lobby unavailable with seemingly no difference in set-up.

It stinks! why the hell shouldnt consumers have the right to ask when a new patch is going to be released that should have done what patch 1 was supposed to sort out.

I never understand why the games industry is let off in ways that other businesses that have delays or have released shoddy products have to deal with.

Well, that's me done with TDU.

Just tried the new patch, sound is now even more broken and the frame rate issues seem to occur more often.

Gay.

Im tempted to ask for the MD name and address and send a letter asking why they produce such poor products - do a lot more than one of those online petitions...

At the end of the day the product still isnt fit for sale and no doubt if we compared the PC version to the XBOX360 version it would be obvious what the flaws are. From there it would be difficult for them to deny that the PC version was fit for sale since it lacks features/fixes that the XBOX360 version had in it from launch.

Having the ability to patch something post launch is not an excuse to do that for every release - and if you do there should be some kind of timescale that this should be implemented in. Furthermore they are aware of these issues as how else have they been fixed in the console versions?

If you look at this its quite a damning case and something a MD couldnt ignore if a few of us bothered to complain through the proper channels

What do you think?

I agree that in this case, the customer service appears to be appalling. Whilst I see that it is pretty much impossible to release a perfectly coded game, other writers/producers manage to get an early patch out within a week to eliminate the really serious stuff then release 2-3 more patches over the coming month or two to rectify the other stuff and boost performance on certain systems etc. Atari seem to be in a habit of getting shoddy releases on the shelves and then taking months to address any issues at all. Together with the lack of useful feedback on the official forum and I really think it is high-time they got their ass in gear and stopped fobbing people off with lazy excuses and missed deadlines.

Just got around to installing the patch, didn't have any major issues before but i thought i might as well try it as it might fix a few things. Now it sounds REALLY bad especially in the enzo, it sounds like the engine is going to break and the hands on the steering wheel flicker

Time to reinstall test drive

I have reinstalled this game about a month now after a system crash, but as yet havent applied any pacthes. Is it best just to not bother as i can still play online ok.

As far as i know you need the new patch in order to play online. If you can get away with it don't even bother, as i can't even load test drive anymore, it just crashes.

wow, I found something they fixed.
Previously if you took a photo at one resolution, changed resolution and looked at the photo in your album, it would come out unrecognisably distorted. Now it just comes out stretched to fit. Celebrate, for a bug has been fixed.

My game is uninstalled now, didn't play for about 2 months waiting for the patch, patch gives me about 40-50% less FPS and the 2 new cars are really bad renditions of the real life counterparts (RS4 being one of my fav cars) so i played around with a mate for a bit to see if the "multiplayer" (lol) had improved, and they haven't fixed anything worthwhile.

So it got uninstalled. What can i say?

I also hear Atari are going down the can...

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I must admit I am getting close. TDU had/has lots of potential but Atari seems to be doing as much as it can to squander it rather than realise it.

Something about a source, frenchy? :P

Just something my mate was on about when we were having a laugh at just how bad the patch was, so it's probably just hear say. :)

Ah. Well if Atari continue to develop, no thats wrong, "develop", thats better, games like they have TDU and alienate their customers then they will go down the pan.

Was saying to an OcUKer on MSN last night, the only thing Atari is good for is the Atari logo'd t-shirts.

But the logo is based on Atari of old, before they got bought by whoever-it-was and used as a publishing name. So they're good for nothin'. :p
