The **Official** Test Drive Unlimited for PC thread

Well, I've been playing and so far:

There appears to be a loss of image quality in game, AA/AF dont see to work as they used to, and I cant help noticing a blur in the distance which never used to be there.

Also the stuttering is still here, I dont see any improvement to features or new features impemented, I dont know what they've done tbh

Taken from the EU forums which are back up

I am completly appauled, They HAVE FIXED NOTHING, all they have done is added to new cars which the xbox boys got for free! still say same lag spikes and 10fps performance. but whats best though, is the fact that it is the beta patch. after everything the_mole said iam actully laughing over this. truly shocking.

Im in tears here :D

Yeah got mine working some how. The RS4 and Skyline are just really strange. There vehicle sounds are barley audible with music on in game compared to the other cars. Their imagequality is totally like it's been ported (lazy gits). Blur's ok, and it runs a tad better. No stuttering for me, playable tbh.

Stuttering still aint been sorted since even before it happened to loads of people.

I notice one thing still they should have sorted, connecting to other players!!!, still its a nightmare!!!

I haven't played it yet with the patch- but I know spunj99 has and it's nailed it- massive drop in performance and FPS.

I'm going to in a bit... after I've tidied my desk so I can get my wheel on it :)

You should buy FM08 on release. SI Games normally manage a patch a few days after release if they've found any bugs after game goes gold. Then you are pretty much guaranteed a January transfer window update in mid Feb with a patch for the game slipped in as well.

So SI Games >>>>>> Atari. :)

I haven't really had that many problems with test drive unlimited (the retail version). Are the two new cars in this patch really worth all the problems people seem to be having here, and in the atari forums?

You have to patch to play online.

Sorry to say, but i haven't had any probs ingame with the patch, just played it for two and some hours without a hitch. TBH, it aint fixed anything, but nothing has broke either.....

The only issue i had is now Process Explorer conflicts with securom if PE has been run or is running, I need to restart. Never had that before with TDU, but had the same thing with Stalker until i 'fixed' it. Guess i'll have to do the same to TDU now....

EDIT: Oh and the Skyline is disappointingly underpowered, even after a stage three tune. :(

Retail worked fine for me, apart from it crashed on closing, forgot to test this after i installed the patch, and used end task from habit :p

Apart from that my game is running fine with the patch, the cars are ok, nothing really exciting, also noticed the engine sounds are a lot quieter? :(

Ah yes, i noticed that too, just been playing again and also noticed some shadows are quite jagged now too.:(

Will there be another patch at some point?

I agree that cars sound quieter. My Koenigsegg doesn't roar as it used to. :(

And as for another patch? No chance. Its taken Atari ages to get this one sorted. We'd be looking at next year surely. They'd wait a few weeks to see how this patch goes. Say until end of August. Then decide if they can do another patch without interfering with TDU2 work. So September. Working on the actual patch would take 2-3 months as we've seen.

My bet is that Atari wanted this patch to shut people up. We can't complain that we haven't had a patch now.

But I think work on TDU2 is underway now and since that will generate income for them and another patch won't, there is no chance of another TDU patch.
