*** The Official Tribes: Ascend Thread! ***

I have mixed feelings about the Nitron nerf, it's a fact that the only way to fix chasing is to either speed up chasers, or slow down cappers.. slowing down cappers is a much better way to go about it imo.

But on the other hand this unintentionally buffs snipers, due to the fact that cappers will be going slower.. this makes them easy to hit, give snipers more time to hit and takes longer for the capper to break line of sight.

Then again no way can anyone Chase a 360+ back to front Arx grab, you are home in < 10 seconds, even if a chaser did catch up.. they wouldn't have time to kill the carrier unless they were lucky enough to hit a mid air.

It's catch-22, you can't nerf or buff one without it having an effect on capper, chaser, sniper balance. We'll have to see how it pans out, it's hard to draw conclusions without testing it.

Nitron got nerfed but the spinfusor got buffed, so it would work out not much less than before the patch, no?

Increased self-knockback (“disk-jumping” or “rocket-jumping”) on all explosive projectile weapons by 20%.

Awesome patch is awesome.

I knew it would have to be good, purely due to the fact they haven't patched in three weeks.

Also recorded a fast Arx Novena route with a rock bounce return.

how do you get that initial boost forwards? I've seen a few people do that but haven't quite worked out how...

Thrust pack.

Can't say without testing it, you use three nitrons per route, say you was doing a 320 grab before. If they've reduced the speed by say ~20KM/h per nitron, plus however more the disk adds which I guess is another 20KM/h.. so a 320 grab could potentially turn into a 280 grab, you see the logic?

But yet again, it's hard to say.

It's fantastic if you ask me, however quite a few times last night the server wouldn't change maps and just died. This is certainly not a good thing.

Do you think this will have a bad effect on players progressing though? I mean if your a level 15 and the highest ranks you play with are 17 then are you been challenged enough or or been able to learn from more experienced players? Just feel it is better for the new players and the pro players but the guys in the middle I feel may suffer.

Like the Shazinator. :)

Absolutely loving Tribes, having some of the best times; fun, close and exciting rounds I've experienced in any FPS.

Cracking game. :D

It only gets better mate. Big patch coming next week also.

I enjoyed the games with the lvl 25-40 much more because you get less llama grabs and dueling is more fun. I actually find it harder to play with the lvl 15's etc cause everyone is all over the place.

It's a pain in the butt. I'm trying to level sonic punch up for flag drops (20k exp to get there) and to get that many melee kills on gold players takes 3x as long as it does when playing with silver players lol. Other than that it's pretty awesome as it's allowing for some really fast-paced, close games.

Same here. Not had a chance to play as much as I'd like but I can see myself coming back to this regularly. Although CS:GO is round the corner :/

Liking playing as Juggernaught atm. It's satisfying to watch 2/3 defenders slog it up to the hill, then when the get there I just ski away to the other side of the enemy base. If they are stupid enough they chase and are slowly gunned down by the LMG... tactical retreating, not enough people do it in FPSs :p

Also, if you could add my player name to the OP, that'd be great:

Tribes: Armitage Shanks (don't ask me why I thought of this... can I change it?)
Steam: mpmarshall87

ive just got 80k xp and 412gold, main thing im missing is thumper for tech
quite fancy prism mines for infiltrator tho :D

if you want to be good enough in a game, you'll play until you're good enough to move up a rank, I prefer playing with around my level because I'm flat out not good enough to compete with you guys but have no real trouble below my level. if I joined with high levels straight out of the gate (after lvl6) I would have quit if not for me wanting to be good at the game.

I've hit 300 a few times, it's more my accuracy when moving that I need to work on, I know some routes but need to get the movement consistency that can only come through practice.
