*** The Official Tribes: Ascend Thread! ***

Probably been asked before but.. how important is it to keep the generator up? I've played a couple of games as technician where I did nothing but keep the generator, radar and turrets working, but I've no idea how much difference it made.

My only anecdotal evidence in favour is that the team who generally have more base "uptime" seems to win, but that is probably just because they are more offensive in general :p
 
Not really needed if you have decent players defending flag. Force fields can be very useful to stop enemy cappers. Your not really learning anything by repairing stuff. Your better off working on flag defence with soldier and super heavy perk.


@ The guys who record. What sort of size will a map take up? Also what sorta effect will recording have to my fps? Also why does it make fps drop?

Well Brad you missed some cracking games tonight against IDK with flam almost beating them on two maps! Not to worry I managed to record 2 out of 3 maps.
 
Just load tribes up and login to the account you want to have it applied to. If this doesn't work you have to escalate with steam and Hi-Rez and it will take around a week to apply (Took them a week to apply mine). HTH.

Thanks. It didn't work, so sent a query to Hi Rez. Should I do the same to Steam?

No, my mouse kept switching itself off so said to everyone that they would be better off with a sub, esp against IDK.

Have purchased this one as a replacement.

Hi folks, I downloaded this over the weekend as it was free and I have heard good things about it :)

I have played Q3 Arena for coming up to 13 years now and to be honest have never found a game to match its speed, weapon balance and sublime physics.

However, I will be giving Tribes Ascend a go over the next few days. Can anyone recommend a good server for complete noobs? I dont wanna be the nub that's letting the team down cos I dont have a clue what to do :rolleyes:

From the vids on steam this game looks awesome though :)

Not sure what my in game name is going to be yet as I have not even loaded the game up yet. Is game name dependant on a registered profile? Or can you use anything as long as someone else in the same server is not using the same?

Its a great game but takes time to really get decent at it. As for servers just click play then ctf which will pit you in a ranked public game with other new players. There won't be any teamwork or anyone relying on you so you can just practice doing what you want.

As for game name I think u still need an account with highres even though using steam but maybe wrong as I use the stand alone version. Once you pick your name the only way to change it is to spend gold.
 
It's a great system the way that you are automatically put into a server based on your rank. RE Buffet, I don't think Tribes will be quite up to your expectations as nothing beats quake speed wise (IMO) however if you do enjoy it please join us in mumble. I'm sure Jim / Samsung would be happy to show you the ropes so to speak. If you have as much experience as you claim then I would imagine that within a couple of months your fragging power will be insane.
