I don't know why I'm participating this. But you argued that Dice created mantle for AMD.

Now you post a link yourself, where you contradict your own current argument completely :P

Yes Dice had asked (and who knows how many other developers) for new API. But you make it sound like they had ready SDK and spec for it.

If that is true then why don't you lot do something about the stupid amount of trolling and rubbish in this sub-forum i.e. 90% of flopper's posts, surely you don't have to rely on us to RTM everything for you lot.... isn't that what the under bosses are for and the reason they get to that "status" in the first place...

And don't even get me started on the amount of trolling in the general discussion sub-forum....

Considering android is based on linux, I suspect google will implement vulkan api with their next android update and so every phone that gets that version will also get vulkan api :cool:

Have to agree with Nexus there, you've got LambChop f'ing and blinding at another member and you're the one being threatened with a holiday, amazing.

There's 2 posters who are utterly toxic to this section and they've been getting away with it for months now.

Yup, amazing isn't it.... I also got an infraction/warning for using his same reference @ him, something along the lines of polaris/AMD owners being brain dead but nope.... more or less "insulting" (reason for my deleted post and warning/infraction) large amount of people is ok but when it comes to using the same reference back at him is a big no no, makes sense....

But hey, you better not question the mod team and their "methods"!

How's about you ban lambchop for not fully starring a swear word....I've many a ban for the same thing. So stick to your mod rules and ban him...you lot pick and choose the rules when it pleases you. I actually find the tone of his message very aggressive, my posts that I received bans for were not aggressive towards another member.

haha true that Tony, all of us took the **** out of you on discord for those bans and saying about it being haz who was snitching on you (<3 haz) :D :D :D They weren't exactly short bans either, iirc a couple of weeks? And like you said, yours posts/swearing wasn't aimed at anyone in particular either....

Stanners is absolutely right when he says that you will be appropriately dealt with if you resort to trolling. Stick to RTMing and the mod team will deal with issues as quickly as they can.

As above, Stanners is completely correct. Two wrongs do not make a right and if we end up with multiple members trolling we will deal with them all as appropriate.

The mod team cannot be everywhere at once at all times. We rely on RTMing. If you have issues with posts RTM them. It's as simple as that.

Now. Please can we get back on topic.
 
I got an infraction for just laughing at a word that someone had used in there comment because i had not seen it used in a long time, the word was not a swear word, the word was not aimed at anyone even in the comment i was laughing at, but me typing "LOL" because that's all i typed was off topic so infractioned and there is no way anyone RTM.

I suggest those complaining wind their necks in a tad less they fall foul of the trolling and end up getting suspended themselves. A variety of members are being monitored both in this thread and others and are on very thin ice. Stick to the topic, try not to get drawn into the troll posts and leave the moderating to us please.
 
Why id Software Chose Vulkan over DirectX 12

“DirectX 12 and Vulkan are conceptually very similar and both clearly inherited a lot from AMD’s Mantle API efforts. The low level nature of those APIs moves a lot of the optimization responsibility from the driver to the application developer, so we don’t expect big differences in speed between the two APIs in the future. On the tools side there is very good Vulkan support in RenderDoc now, which covers most of our debugging needs. We choose Vulkan, because it allows us to support Windows 7 and 8, which still have significant market share and would be excluded with DirectX 12. On top of that Vulkan has an extension mechanism that allows us to work very closely with AMD, NVIDIA and Intel to do very specific optimizations for each hardware.”

I suppose Vulkan won't provide that much benefit for Pascal owners, seeing as it seemingly doesn't support AC at a hardware level?

Anyways, I hope it catches on, I don't plan to jump to W10 any time soon and if Vega stomps the 1070 and is significantly better on Vulkan, then I won't mind switching to AMD again. 7850 was a great little card.
