They have not implemented multithreading or modified the engine for best use.

I think the issue with benchmarks at the minute is that Vulkan isn't really being done properly, but some people will just see the results their confirmation bias wants to see and dismiss it.
I guess the lucky thing is that this shouldn't really affect take up as developers will be aware of the situation, but to Joe Public it could make it look like the API isn't helping.

slightly misleading headline from Ars here as Vulkan is massively behind DX11 for both AMD and Nvidia, but even taking "beta" in to consideration, being so far behind DX11 is not a good start
I'll tell you what, i'm shocked to see a 290X performing at 80% of a 980TI.
So does Valve or Epic have anything planned? Demo of a "proper" implementation?
