***The Official Wolfdale 8200/8400/8500 Overclocking Thread ***

This E8500 has a cold bug at somewhere between -30 and -55c. Couldn't figure out for the life of me why my OC profile that worked on air wouldn't work on Phase. meh.
 
Yes I know how Phase change works, I just want to know if you still put dielectric grease over the socket as the cpu pins are now attached to the motherboard instead of the actual CPU.

Edit:- pretty sure you still grease the socket, think you have to to prevent condensation. but i could be wrong .
 
What would be the limiting factor on my pc if i buy a 8400? I have a rev 3.3 DS3 965P and Crucial PC2 8500 RAM. I can hit 400fsb on my e2140 but i think the cpu holds any further increase back. Does the DS3 hit a wall at 400?

No

the DS3 rev 3.3 is a 500 FSB mobo.
