** The Official WWDC 2009 Thread **

Whut? It has had a 3D graphics chip since day one.

Possibly they are hinting at instead of just a integrated graphics chip, it will be a full 3D graphic chip (I.e. the equivilent of upgrading your stock PC from integrated graphics card to an ATI 4870)

-----

New image up of most rumours that are flying around for the iPhone, and their possibility to showing next Monday ;)

With 3G battery life as it is I don't want a 3 hour gap between charging..

Battery life would be (even more of) a joke with a dedicated GPU.

As for the picture it looks like a wish list more than anything. I'm confused why people think a rubber back is a good idea? Matte yes, rubber no.

Stop all you people with your iPhones getting them out to make the rest of us jealous. You wont look so slick when you have to wrestle with your pockets to get to the prescious iphone!

At the moment....but if they brought out a iPhone Nano for example, there is no reason they could not offer it as SimFree?

Wishful thinking. Who knows whats been drawn up in their contract? For all we know, o2 could have requested that ANY apple mobile phone will be under o2 until the contract date.

I think the iPhone Nano is a likely as Apple releasing a Netbook ;) or snow in Hell. It would also most likely still be carrier specific as this is a good revenue scheme for Apple.

I always thought that part of the reason they gave the iPods the mirror-like finish on the back was so that by the time a new model was out to tempt you, your existing one would look scuffed up and old.

I thought that too but the iPhone is different - Apple need something that only lasts two years - the length of the contract :D

Oooooh getting closer! I canny wait.

New iPhone - Check
Snow Leopard Details / R.Date - Check
Sweet new apps/games - Check
Steve Jobs Doll v2.0 - Check

:p

I think that with all the rumours of Jobs recovery, I can see him coming to the keynote and making a least a small speech :p

Anyone think this?

If anything, the logo won't glow. The only reason it does on MacBooks is because it's using light from the backlight - with an iPhone there are things in the way ;)

If they did make it glow, it would be the biggest mess Apple made of something since the MobileMe launch :p

They mentioned that on Ars Technica yesterday in their article about Steve Jobs returning to work next month. But they concluded he'd make a come back when the new iPhone launched for max PR.

Article here

I'm also hoping Steve Jobs plays at least a small part in the conference, he is the best in the business IMO when it comes to live on stage presentations :)

The one feature i'm really hoping for is inductive charging - ala Palm Pre....... When you buy the touchstone unit for the Pre, it comes with a matte black battery cover instead of the usual glossy one. I believe this allows the tech to work better than a glossy finish could. I'm hoping thats why Apple have decided to go for at matte finish :D

if the rumors are true of course :(

Yeah, we’re suffering just as much anticipointment over all these possible maybe blurry photoshopped “leaks” of the 3rd gen iPhone as you are. But the wait for WWDC’s Monday keynote — for the real answers! — is just about driving us batty anyway, so we might as well distract ourselves.

Engadget grabbed this one from Nowhere Else. How does it grab your?

We get leaked third generation iPhone pictures. Not all of them are compelling enough to post or link to, but every once and a while, something comes in that fires off the old brainstorms. See above.

This one was sent to us by Emanuel who said simply, “Hello, this is leaked Photo of the iPhone video coming out June 9.”

iphone_video_wider_screenDate aside — how tall is that screen now? Quite a bit taller than the current iPhones and iPods touch. We’ve heard rumors of a repositioned ear piece before, and this could certainly be a reason for it.

Not only is it taller, however, it’s also exactly 16×9, that magical widescreen video ration the current iPhone achieves by letter-boxing, and what the Zune HD will have by going with a slimmer 272×480 display.

Apple can’t cut pixels — it would play havoc with all those 40,000ish apps that count on every single one of the current 320×480. Assuming Apple adds to them then, we’ll be looking at 320×570...

And a June 8th release date?

Gearlive (via BGR) is reporting that Apple will not only announce the third generation “iPhone video” (that’s the name they use, so we’ll mirror it here) this Monday, June 8, but actually have it available for sale at Apple stores the same day.

"It will be available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB models. A 4GB model is in the works as well, but it won’t be available on Monday, and when it is released, it won’t be sold in Apple Stores. All the things you’ve been seeing about an auto-focus camera, compass, etc. are all true. A camera on front along with a camera on back, that is the real deal - although it may just be for you to take video of yourself, and not for iChat video communication (although that would freaking rock.) A faster processor is also a lock (although I have heard nothing on additional RAM, it would make sense.)"

Gearlive basically thinks Apple was going to release in July, but are rushing it up in an effort to counteract the release of the Palm Pre tomorrow, June 6.
