** The Official WWDC 2012 Thread **

By this, I'm guessing the new Mountain Lion will be optimized for the new resolution and leave the older MBs with only being able to go to Lion?

Just for reference, the new 15" will be £1849, based on current pricing.

Worth noting that the 17" is dead, it seems.

As for a 1080p display being more useful, theoretically yes, because here, you are just making elements on the display clearer; you aren't actually gaining any real estate. In reality, for most users, 1080p will probably be too small.

"Now, if you're sitting here using your Mac and your phone buzzes with a new message, you can just respond on your Mac."

Oh if only it were that easy :p I hope they fix the bugs in iMessages before release :p

With the Retina iPad you don't get any more icons on the screen, they just look clearer.

For work I prefer to see more items.

With a laptop I'm so far away from it would make less of a difference.

But extra multitasking and moving things around to see it all would be annoying.

The Macbook air is the Apple Laptop with a decent resolution for the screen size. The others all seem designed for blind people.

Could not agree more, I already do that with everything else, but Messages is a mess at the moment! When I used it, constant drops on other accounts.
