*** The Official X1950 Pro Thread ***

yeh I noticed it was pushed back too:(

i'm sure your psu will be fine skeeter, I mean i've run my 6800GE off my 480w antec neopower for over two yrs overclocked, and with two molex connectors like you said, it really should be fine I hope, cos I want the HIS card too...

Bit worrying reading these posts about the x1950 pro's crashing and what not. Are the majority pci or agp cards that are going down, or a mixture? Because i'm just about to place an order for the HIS pci card.

Can i just confirm my psu is up to the job to use a HiS 1950pro 512mb AGP.

Akasa Paxpower 400W Ultra Quiet PSU Blue v.3 - ATX 2.0

AMD 3500+ venice stock
HSF arctic 64 pro
2gb geil value ram ddr400
mb is asus a8v deluxe rev 2.0
dvdrw - liteon 1673 i think
4 fans [psu][cpu][front and back of case]
1x 30gb hdd maxtor
1x 200gb maxtor hdd
audigy 2 zs
asus v9999 GE (at the mo)
keyboard and mouse are ps2 connected.

I think these are the stats for psu.

http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/spec_page/psu/spec_ak_p400fg_blv3.htm

Tho at ocuk site it seems the same its rated 3.3 and 5 combined is 210w instead of 130ishw as what akasa site says.

I know i asked this before here but im reasking due to what sapphire forums were going on about due to the regulars there hounding users because of lower per rail amps. They are rude to anyone who doesnt have 22amp on each rail for +12v or 30amp on single rail psu's +12v. And they say dont bother with the card unless you have 450w psu with either 22amp on a multi rail psu or 30amp on single rail psu on the +12. Hence my renewed interest if my psu is ok if i did upgrade to a 1950pro 512mb HiS card (AGP). I mean my asus v9999GE needs 2 molex power connectors on the card so im guessing its power hungry and i aint had trouble all year with it so...

Id say yer PSU will be fine. :)

hey guys, any of you play call of duty 2. just wondering what performance is like in dx9 mode and what settings this card can play the game at? thanks. :)

my res will only be 1440x900 when i get one. :p

Well my x1800 XT runs it maxed out in 1280x1024, 2xAA/16xAF in Dx9 mode, absolutely rips it to pieces, so x1950pro should have no trouble, never tried 4xAA as it looks great in just 2x. :D

x1950pro is not that much slower in CoD2, see here , only about 5fps.

cool. my cpu is nowhere near as good as yours but i'm fairly confident it shouldn't hold back the gfx card too much (dothan @ 2.6ghz). and of course i have the mandatory 2gb of ram.... :)

edit: didn't you have an 8800gtx in your sig earlier? :p

Sorry if it has been asked before but what is the power needed just for the card. As my Asus v9999GE only needs 112w. I did see the power used chart but thats for a full system not just the card. Id like to compare what my current card uses to the x1950pro agp version for power usage.

Well in the instructions for my HIS X1950 PRO it says you need a 450W minimum PSU.

Got the DS3 installed now, the HIS card arrived, but I can't do a damn thing 'cos I haven't got a PCI-E power adaptor  Thanks HIS  Ordered one from ebay last week and still it hasn't came. One more thing, You got a LOT more with the Sapphire card, I was shocked at how little you got by way of cables etc with the HIS. And the Sapphire looks a lot more pretty :p This HIS better perform!!

What with people saying their cards are not working right; and now people not receiving the right things in box, has kinda put me off getting one of these cards now. Was going to order one while they are on this week only. But may now wait see what comes about with this, see if its just a bad batch or something.

i got mine just before New Year, excellennt card, get it whilst its on offer!

Mine *could* have just been a faulty one, Proc. My thread, and some other research on the issue throws up other people with similar problems - but surely there would have been an outcry by now if EVERY HIS x1950 Pro crashed under load?

OCUK Tech support suggested I swap the HIS for the PowerColor model, which is what I've done.

Ok calm down. Firstly I think about three people have had problems, which when u consider how many are sold is expected. I've got a HIS X1950 Pro installed running now and its ace!

I've installed three X1950 Pro's and not had any problems that the other posters are experiencing??

I would expect the boxes that ship to be sealed & with all accessories, apparently two posters have recieved boxes with missing items? (if the boxes were sealed I do not know).

Don't worry about it, the HIS is a smashing card, the 256MB version was £153 just over a week ago, this week only= bargain! :D

It just seems to be people that have bought them recently have been having problems, which leads to believe it could be this current batch that is playing up. If i do buy it, suppose i can always rma it if something is wrong, just a bit of a hassle. Ok i'm sold. :)

there are so many reasons a system can crash while under graphics load, one of them is of course a faulty card but there are plenty others too, I've put both the HIS and Powercolour cards under tremendous loads for long periods and they hardly even sweat?

Some people are talking about over-heating VRM's, that can't be on the Power-Colour or HIS but I haven't used/tested the Sapphire Vanilla X1950 pro so can't comment really.

In short this is a cool running card, it doesn't use a ton of juice and I can't imagine it overheating?

Why did they suggest that?

Shall try my best not to mis-quote the tech support guy I spoke to, but he suggested to me that they'd had a few RMAs for the HIS card today for the same problem as I was having, but none for the PowerColor version, that uses the Arctic Cooling heatsink.
