In some events it's the best in the world (track and field basically) but not in all.

Like the men's football for example (and why are the men's teams restricted to U23 players whilst the women's teams can take their full squads?), same goes for boxing, even basketball is looking to change to U23s only in future Olympics.

Why is the opening ceremony after the games have already started?:confused:

A bit nonplussed by it all at the moment but I'm sure I'll get into it eventually, will certainly be watching the track and field with interest, also quite looking forward to the tennis, it'll be like having 2 Wimbledons this year.

Yes it will, in 2016, 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036, 2040...

You make it sound so rare, so what if its happening in the UK, I don't care where it is, thank goodness the world is moving away from pitiful patriotism.
 
The Olympics can go take a running jump for all I care. The country has better things to spend money on.

Who really cares if one person can run slightly faster than the next or throw some object a bit further.

It's nothing more than a moneymaking exercise for the sponsors and bigwigs involved whilst costing the public billions.


That's my opinion anyway.....
