It'll look better on my projector and big sound system while kicking back on the sofa with a pad ;)

Can't be dealing with this huncing over a desk, keyboard and mouse stuff anymore - too much like work :)

This sounds totally appealing but if you take two typical setups:

say a 36" CRT screen with a 360 and sitting on the sofa

and

a PC at a desk with a 19" TFT, the PC version will look better and that's what I'm most concerned about.

Those that have a PC in the same room as their large plasma TV can easily better a 360 for looks and convenience especially if they have wireless controllers.

Got a 20.1" Widescreen here and a wireless 360 controller if I did want to sit back I could just sit in my sofa and play it  but keyboard for me.

You dont need a GTX to get better graphics than the 360, most pc gamers already play at higher resolutions than a majority of 360 games are (1280x1024 for example is higher rez than 720p).

Higher resolutions don't translate into better graphics. Half-life at 1600*1200 doesn't look better than Gears of War @ 720p

Tbh i'd rather game on a 32" 720p screen than a 20" 1680*1050 monitor. So I think the resolution point is relative. Which would you prefer?

My point was this: most games that are on both the 360 and pc tend to look very similar (and need £240 worth of GFX card to do so). Excuses of being crappy ports / unoptimised don't change the outcome. Rainbow six vegas, lost planet, dirt are a few examples.

As for detail i reckon the 320 GTS will fly in dx10 mode at resolutions upto 1680x1050. Although as you only have a 6600GT i can see why your jelous :P

And what do you base that presumption on? The 320 struggles on games with large texture sizes (high / ultra settings) and once you start cranking the eye candy. Besides...as no "real" DX10 tittles are out we can't say for sure...

What are you basing this on? every review of the PC version so far states it runs smooth as silk, PCGAMER UK even played it on a 320MB 8800GTS with no problems.

Recently we have been exposed to really badly developed games with poor optimisation which demanded high end gfx cards to run smooth - this is NOT the case with games coded by a respectable team - think back to HL2 when everyone said you'd need a 6800 Ultra etc to run it smooth when in fact that was totally not the case and it stil looked and ran amazing.

You need to leave behind the chain of thought that you need high end hardware to play next gen games well because you won't with games being released by the big names which granted does not happen every year hence why all the hype when they do.

WHAT ABOUT A BIOSHOCK PC DEMO?
August 13, 2007
After the appearance of the BioShock Demo on Xbox 360™ last night, I’m sure many of you PC fans wondered, “What about us?”

Here’s the deal.

A BioShock PC Demo IS coming. We tried as hard as humanly possible to get it out to you guys simultaneously with the 360 demo, but we needed to make sure that it was perfect -- that all drivers were ready, and that the game looked great on a huge variety of computers.

Currently, the PC demo in its final stages of testing and approval. We are pushing to get it out to you as soon as possible. It will be out during the month of August, and everyone is working at full capacity to deliver it to you before the game hits store shelves on August 21st. I will also let you know as soon as I have an exact date for the demo's release, so please stay tuned.

I cannot express enough how sorry I am for the wait. Thank you for understanding and your patience. Just remember -- only eight days left till you get your hands on the full game.

I’ll let you know where to get the demo as soon as it becomes available.

Well I really hope the PC demo comes out before this game comes out here on the 24th August. I still can't decide between the 360 and PC version, I only have a X1950Pro so I'm not too sure how well the game will play on my 22" monitor. A demo will give me a good idea of what to expect.

Sounds like BS to me. If the game is ready surely they don't need to optimise anything to make a demo?! Could'nt they just lift a section of the COMPLETED game for the demo?

if you have same or better than 7800 gtx or x1900 then your graphics will be better than the xbox 360.

in saying that though. i have a 42" hdtv and id very much prefer to play Bioshock on a PS3 on that lying on my leather couch. But it aint coming out on PS3 so PC lappy it will have to be... on the couch :)

on my laptop nothing breaks it into sweat....unfortunately the new stuff prolly will. (Crysis, etc)

Its very relaxing using a laptop instead of a desktop, im already planning my next lappy.

I just couldnt play a fps on a laptop keyboard and screen, it would be criminal to me.

17" lappy feels like 19" desktop :) mouse and keyboard are same. Well maybe the keyboard isnt as good.

touchpad is handy as well for browsing when i cant be bothered with using mouse. And helps prevent mouse claw syndrome. (if youve been using the mouse for a few hours youll know what i mean but anyway it means less strain on your hands)

After much deliberation i've decided to cancel my 360 preorder and get the pc version. What detail levels do you think i'll be able to run it at 1680x1050?

Spec:

E6600 (stock)
ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB
2Gb Ram

Been trying to get an answer to that. Truth is nobody knows. Everything right now is pure speculation.
