**The one and only Official BioShock Thread**- now with added **SPOILERS**

I know this game lists the min requirements at a geforce 6600 or better etc... but is that the actual minimum? i ask because i have a gf fx5600u and a 1.3ghz amd xp, and have run games like oblivion, C&C3, HL2, etc.. all of which say the min spec is above that of my pc, yet my pc played them fine (Except oblivion, which took a fair bit of modding to make it work at a decent fps).

Download the demo and see how it fares.

I'm having a small problem, in suchang's lab there is an antidote, I've got the first one and got to the (hotel?) room to get the second one but I cannot pick it up, it says I have too much of this item already!!?!

Have I missed something obvious? :(

So close to completing it!

someone has managed to mod the game to work on sm2 cards, although it looks a bit rubbish at the moment...

Just completed the game my self... what an awesome game!

big daddy's... all you need are some mines and telekanesis (sp :D) chuck 3 or 4 mines onto an object you can pick up, and throw it at the big daddy... great fun :D

i remember having to use a mod for oblivion that forced an older shader model as well, and it looked worse then morrowind, but in the end, gameplay > graphics. i still have fun playing some of my older games that have rubish graphics (on in some cases, lack graphics compleatly).

As soon as i free up some space on my hdd ill give the demo a try if i can find the mod that forces sm2. if it works well (ie, makes the game playable, even if it does look rubish) then ill buy the game.

I'm quite impressed with the demo but have a few quick questions before I get it.

1: How long would you say the game takes to complete
2: Apart from the security alerts are there any timed tasks
3: Are there any differences apart from physical in having the dvd v the Steam download?:)

been playing solid all day, when i got into the tea garden i was like   OMFG !!!!!111

all that lush vegitation just blew me away

1:around 20hrs gameplay for an average gamer
2:No
3:No

Enjoy!

OK, so now that we have Widescreen within Vista, is there anyway to enable AA in vista?
I dont want to use the dx9, id rather use dx10 if possible.

1. Took me about 25 hours. That was with me exploring everything though. You could probably rush through it in about 15 i'm guessing.

2. Not that I can recall no.

3. None, even steam gets the silly activation limit.

Does the FOV .exe need to be placed in the game directory, as I was in game, pressed * on the number pad, and nothing happened.

What a game, I finished it earlier today, got it yesterday, just hadn't been able to put it down!

It's sublime. The graphics, the sound, the acting, the levels, the story. You're allowed to be as creative as you want with everything too. I played through the first half pretty conventionally, but then I realised it let me do much much more and began to change my playstyle.

The story as well! What a story, I'll not spoil it here as it's silly to have spoilers in the official thread so close after release.

Oh and: Possibly the best level in a game ever ever ever: Fort Frolic 'starring' Sander Cohen.

About the only good thing about the steam download one is that you don't need to keep the DVD-rom in the drive.....

But the steam one cost me £33.44 :( where i seen some on here report that the payed only about £22 for the physical retail one...
