**The one and only Official BioShock Thread**- now with added **SPOILERS**

Steam should be far cheaper as you don't get a cd case manual or anything
they are cashing in on peoples impatience.

But they are a business, they are there to make money. If your impatient and want to buy it through them, then their strategy is working well isn't it?

The widescreen issue is a joke for a release like this in 2007.

Not been able to get a proper widescreen aspect ratio (16:10, 16:9) is unbelievable, even the Xbox 360 version isn't the correct aspect ratio when on a widescreen tv.

I hope this is fixed soon as it is a major problem as far as I am concerned.

Personally, I hardly think this is a show stopper. It's not ideal, and I am sure they will fix it, but it should hardly take away from the gaming experience.

Just kind of typical - a new game comes out which has been coded to run very well on a huge variety of machines, and people get all upset over what is essentially a very minor issue.

Sure, most of use would like to have the issue fixed, but when I read some of the posts on the 2K forums I feel for the developers. A bunch of whiney brats who are quick to condemn, but not so quick to thank them for developing a decent game.

is that because they're not enemies?

the bots at the beginning help you :p
No the flying helicopter things that shoot at you lol
it's when you get caught on camera just after you see
the little girl get atatcked and the bubble thing save her they certainly were not my friend.

I wasnt too keen on this when I played the 360 demo

Just played the PC demo and my mind is changed completely, I love it

Even with my rig it ran fine, smooth 90% of the time at all high settings

But its just so much better with a mouse and keyboard, I was surprised at how much of a difference that made

Atmosphere just seemed so much better sat down in front of my PC, made me uneasy a few times and almost jump out my seat when a guy flys round the corner and swings at you

thats right at the end!

and its because if you get spotted by the camera a little counter appears, thats how long the alarm sounds for. They aren't respawning its just more bots coming after you until the time counts down. Its exactly the same as it was in System Shock 2.

Game runs ok for me now, applying latest drivers.

AMD64 3800+
2GB RAM
X1800XL
X-Mystique card.

On medium the game runs ok but the sound occasionaly skips or just blanks out all together.
Annoying, but playble.

Cant wait to upgrade in September now so i can play this game better.

Finaly played the demo and wow, the whole atmosphere this game creates is amazing. Only problem I have, and it's a game killer for me is I get TERRIBLE audio. I can only assume it's using some next gen thingy majingy that my card just can't handle, gonna have to do a little more research.
It says DX 9C sound card required, anybody know a quick way to test if the card I have supports it?

there is widescreen support

with the new nvidia beta drivers

edit oh wait think ive made a mistake in what you wanted with widescreen :P

I just think that after creating a game of this quality and then to force people with widescreen displays to have the bottom and the top of the screen cut of is a major oversight.

surely you won't get it until friday though as it would be illegal
to get it before the release date? me jealous though

I think illegal is abit of a strong word to use. Considering Royal Mail of late I would be hoping that it was despatched today. Im pretty sure publishers have no problems allowing copies that have been pre-ordered to be dispatched as soon as they arrive.
I remember when I used to pre-order sega saturn games I would camp by the shop waiting for UPS to arrive with the delivery :o usualy 2-3 days early they never had a problem selling them before release date.
