Wow, have to say im mega impressed gfx are amazing! now buy via steam or just get on DVD :P

Anyone pre-load via steam ? if so how much was it with VAT?

I bought it over steam last night, came in @ $64 which roughly translates to £32. A bit over the top on the store retail but hey i dont need a cd and have to get off my butt to pick the thing up either :P

Yep its going to be great, Im really hoping my preorder from g***p*** meets its despatch date of today, they usually are really good like that so fingers crossed Ill have my copy tommorow.

Just a quick thing doesnt the steam version only activate on the 24th? I may be wrong but thats what I thought.

Must admit that I'm going to do this the traditional way - walk to a shop & buy a copy over the counter. No need to then to have 'Will it come today-itis'! ;)

OK, time for a bug report by looking at the posts here, which begs the question as to why the demo wasn't released a month ago as then we'd have a patch on release date or a working full version...

* some people having sound issues including clicks/pops or no sound

* some people can run AA under DX 10 & some cant under DX 10

* missing textures, looks to be ATI specific & maybe fixed by new drivers?

* bad screen tearing with vsync off especially on nvidia cards?

* the phenomenon which annoys me most is when vsync is on, the fps drop from 60 to 30 from very similar viewpoints, as shown:

Meh £7quid more tbh :)

Steam it is :D

One thing i found annoying straight away was respawning
flying things near the start of the demo after you kill them they come back.
Really do not like respawning enemies in games kind of defeats the purpose of killing them in the first place.

Good news about the AA, hope it's in the full release :).

Not sure about the widescreen FOV issue, I can't say I really noticed anything bad when playing it in 1680*1050.

Found it for £24.99 delievered and sure its the same price on steam.
Nah Steam is 7 quid more, or well it was a few days ago, the pricing on Steam is idiotic tbh, some is great value for money but this seriously isn't.

Wtf?

Why on earth is it more expensive to buy on steam, than it is to order over the web?

There are no overheads involved here, I can understand why its more expensive in a store, but steam is taking the p.

they know a lot of people are too lazy to go and buy it either in a shop or having to wait until it is delivered. they must be raking it in

Suppose huge filehosting servers cost nothing to run then.

I know that all my steam downloads have been very fast. So they handle traffic well.. Thats probably more expensive than the overheads at somewhere in jersey with a huge warehouse

I rather doubt they cost more than having to make the packaging, ship the goods to a warehouse and ship them to a retailer, with each step of the way taking a hefty chip out of your profit margin.

The widescreen issue is a joke for a release like this in 2007.

Not been able to get a proper widescreen aspect ratio (16:10, 16:9) is unbelievable, even the Xbox 360 version isn't the correct aspect ratio when on a widescreen tv.

I hope this is fixed soon as it is a major problem as far as I am concerned.

Well, the aspect ratio is correct. We're not getting squashed characters or anything. Its the field of view that hasn't been changed i.e. widescreen has the top and bottom chopped off. It's like widescreen users are playing with a slighly zoomed in view compared with everyone else.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the FOV change that has caused some reviewers to experience motion sickness while playtesting the game. If widescreen has the correct FOV, it will be the 4:3 and 5:4 guys that get problems and vice versa.

I do hope the textures in the final game are a bit more hires, Im hoping the low res ones atm are to keep the demo size down. On the stairs after you emerge frrom the plane wreck are hi res yet the stairs inside arent...
