The ONE AND ONLY ***OFFICIAL*** Crysis thread - SPOILERS!

well thats me completed it on normal very good game but not without bugs and that last level was terrible for hitchs and glitches even thought id turned down a lot of details to get 55fps it was still glitching  dealing with the glitches was harder than killing the boss sigh.......
Think they should have used the last level as the in game benchmark to be honest because if your system handles that bit it will run any level in the game.
Time to work out whats going on in multiplayer now :)

You have to wait until they disable its shield then she tells you to use it.

Doesnt matter i was trying to shoot down the other big alien (the one before the big big one)

Great ending if you ask me, i was sooo hoping to make it to the vtol because lots of aliens were chasing me and shooting me.

PROPHET IS ALIVE!!! :D

Have just had a little go on the demo. It seems ok, i'm tempted to buy the full version but i just get the feeling that i'd prefer spending my money on CoD4!

Lol, i've known about it but i'm probably just a little to old school to really appreciate it. I'm sure it would grow on me if i could be bothered learning all of it's complexities.

Its not that complex. I enjoy no-brainer shooters too. Farcry couldnt hold my interest.......but I really enjoyed Crysis from start to finish.

What is there to do in crysis now the game is finished? dont really want to play it again, would have thought you could explore the island but its not all on one map :(.

looks like your like farcry 2 then, a true free to roam game ;).

"The game will be entirely open ended and non-linear. Instead of using individual maps, the game will be set in a sprawling free-roam environment set in a nondescript land in Africa"

I can't wait for this game, I've been looking forward to Farcry 2 more than I was for Cryris/COD4.

Ok, here's a pano comparison of modded cfg vs "high" (stock)

Modded CFG (DX9, HIGH)

No CFG mod (DX9 HIGH)

Notice the foliage has edge AA and a better look, water also has a more natural look to it, it also has CA. The background forest also has more hazy look, it looks more like DX10 on Veryhigh

And some other screens using custom cfg:

^ Here I threw a guy into the water and followed him in, I was surprised that Crytek had implemented real world underwater physics too! the guy floated for a bit then slowly started sinking (torso first) and his arms/legs remained higher than the rest of his body until he hit the floor, thumbs up!

The more I play this the more fun I have in SP mode, the beach is just excellent to mess around in and it's such a beautiful level.

well I've just finished the game, it must have been good because I very rarely play games all the way through, first part of the game was playable even at 1920x1200 but I have to say the strain the later levels put on the system do really let it the game down quite a bit, I had to drop my res down to 1024x768, no AA (and thats scaling on a dell 2407wfp :(), and even then when it got really intense action-wise it would still slow down, I have a feeling it will take 2 generations of gpu/cpu to get this game to run perfect on the later levels, I know the game is graphically very good but I can't help feeling it good of been optimized better tbh, cpu/gpu component manufacturers must be loving this game.

^From my experience resolution doesn't make that much of a difference performance wise. When I had any slow down I lowerd some of the advanced settings and it was fine.

Btw anyone had a proper go at the Multiplayer? I had great fun with it last night. After a while it's chaos, alien weapons, vehicles, nukes. :D

Playing on a DX10 server almost feels like playing a MMO :o. The huge maps, day/night cycle, purchasing weapons and vehicles and it usually takes a long while to end a map.

I'll do my best to explain, not that I know it fully.

Both teams start at their HQ, you then have to capture points. Like Bunkers (Spawn points), Energy points, Prototype Facility, War factory, Air base, Naval factory.

The main aim of the game is to destroy the enemy HQ, to do this you will need nuclear weapons, and to get nuclear weapons you need 100% power (Gained through enegry points I think)

When you have 50% power it will be announced that "Alien technology is now avalible". You can then purchase alien weapons and vehicles from the Prototype Facility. Same with Nuclear weapons @ 100% power.

One thing I'm not sure about is how to destroy the enemy HQ, I think you just fire a couple of nukes at it, but I'm not sure :p.

So, basically it's a race to 100% power so you are able to destroy the enemy HQ.

What advanced graphics settings would you turn down that have the least impact on the visuals and the greatest improvement to performance?

I was running the demo all on high but many of the full game levels are far more demanding so I need to lower some of the settings. At the moment I am running everything on High other than post processing which is on Medium - 1690 x 1050. I still would like a bit more performance so will try setting the shadows to medium which still looks OK.

Post processing and shading first

The first place you should look to boost performance in Crysis is the post-processing setting. This adds effects like motion blur and depth of field (i.e. blurring everything that's closer or further away from the bit you're focussing on), which add to the immersion of the game but create a huge hit in performance. However, they don't affect the actual quality of environment you're seeing so standing still

The single most important setting, after post-processing, though, is the shader quality setting. Dumbing it right down, this setting is what knits together all the others so the environment feels like a whole rather than a mishmash of individual beautiful elements
